    3. Sharon, You are welcome, just wish I could have been more help. Sheila shadri <[email protected]> wrote: Sheila, Thank you for taking the time to look. In Volume 5 of POWG, there is a David ROWELL born 1806, son of David ROWELL RS. He married (2nd wife) Flora CAMPBELL. In Lowndes County. They had a daughter Elizabeth born Sep 2, 1834. It has "married UNKNOWN" beside her name. I wonder if she may be the one? However, it could be the Elizabeth ROWELL who was involved with William STARLING was a ROWELL by marriage. The name Elizabeth being so popular, it would be hard to know unless you found some record I suppose. Thanks again, Sharon Sharon, I do not have a daughter named Elizabeth listed for this David Rowell (1824-1922). I have him listed as married twice 1. Jane Howard (b. 1820 d. ?)with nine children, one being named Tobitha Isabella Rowell. 2. Basheba Heath (1844-1931). I have seen that information about the name change of those children, but my brain won't tell me right now where it was. I also have two other siblings of David Rowell and James A. Rowell (Lt. What is odd is that Archibald Carroll's parents were Edward (Carrell) Carroll and Elizabeth Rowell. I DO NOT have any information on this Elizabeth Rowell, dates of birth or death, parents, etc. And she may very well have been married before or after Edward Carroll. I hope this isn't confusing....but this is all I have right now. Sheila shadri wrote: Does anyone know if this Elizabeth ROWELL was the daughter of David ROWELL? 3. Gail, I have not checked all of the old Camden County records, as it is hard for me to get to that library and/or that courthouse with the hours I work. However, I have accessed census records and can place both James Rowell Sr. (1810), and James A Rowell (Lt. CSA) in Camden County in (1820 & 1830). James A Rowell (Lt. CSA) and his brother, David Rowell in Ware County 1850, and both of them in Pierce County in 1860 (census). I will one day get to Camden County, just don't know when yet. I have relied on the Brantley, Charlton, and Ware County libraries and the records they store there a lot, as well as talking to a lot of Crews, Rowell, Johns and related familes. Thank you for any suggesting that you give me. I always appreciate it. Sheila Gail Moore <[email protected]> wrote: Sheila, Has anyone checked the old Camden Co. Records to see if these men married there by chance. I have not made it there yet but the man said that they do have some very old marriages on file at the Genealogy library there. Also I found a few of them in that neck of the woods married over in Ware County and a handfull in Wayne Co..................................... I think it is due to the fact that the counties kept on changing so much for a long time! Just wondering, I know you have most likely check this already but just on the off chance that you have not............................. Yes, , we all got a good start in the spring., and we got orange crush in the brown bottle, to help it go down,, some of us lucky ones got Grover's Chill tonic. or Castoria, and some of us richer kids remember, Cod liver oil, and Carters liver pills,, . we got the mumps at our house, five kids in two beds, daddy came home with sardines a couple of cans, he rubbed the oil on our mumps, and the boys got rubbed on other parts, What a hot smelly mess., Some memories are the smells of our youth,,, Connie

    3. Sheila, Has anyone checked the old Camden Co. Can you use those nouns interchangeably? when ranny was rich she lived in a log cabin. when she was too old to work and moved in Axson she lived in a shantie. they are still there on the other side of the railroad, A shantie had no glass in the windows, wooden boards covered the windows at night. They were not logs just wooden slabs, wooden floor, She had white river sand around the cook stove and kept a clean house, her yard was white river sand that she would sweet clean every dat with a brush broom. I ask her why one time, she told me that way the next morning, she could tell it anything came in the yard, snake, dog or man. they had stick chimneys in the front room, granny would roast sweet potatoes in the coals.and sit and peal sugar cane cutting them into little chews, we spent many hours in front of the fire warming first her butte. with her skirt lifted up, and god forbid if you sit between her and the fire, when she had to spit her snuff, she could hit the spot, everytime. Do any of you remember Axson the four way stop. One road went across the tracks and the other way went to the river, out there was the little Utah church. and cemetery where the Mormon church was, started 1900, the people went to the old church and I do have lot of histories about that area. Would love to share. .
