As far as I know Winder hasn't moved around much lately. It is in Barrow County just Northeast of Gwinnett. It may have been in Gwinnett or possibly Jackson or Clarke County at one time. Barrow was created from these counties in 1914, I believe. They have a new cemetery book which is just out. This announcement just appeared on several different county lists. I'm not sure if it appeared on Walton-L or not. But here it is again in any case. "Barrow County Georgia Cemeteries" Compiled by East Georgia Genealogical Society [formerly the Piedmont Regional Genealogy Society] While supplies last, this book may be ordered by sending a check for $40.00 plus $3.00 mailing cost to: East Georgia Genealogical Society P.O. Box 117 Winder, Georgia 30680 For additional information you may visit the Society's web site at <http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaeggs> Georgia has 159 counties at last count. I have always said tounge-in-cheek that what they need is a few more counties with a few more local governments for the taxpayers to support. Sorry, I lost my head there for a moment. Back to the email questions. As for the A.M.E., yes, I believe that this always refers to African Methodist Episcopal church. I recently saw a write-up regarding the history of this name and some of the background of this church but can't remember where at the moment. I'm sure that anyone who is interested could find out quickly by doing a web search with one of the general web search engines. Walter Freeman Bettie Wood wrote: > Ok, someone help me out!
