At the close of deer hunting season this weekend, members of the Sons of the Confederacy as well as other volunteers, will begin the task of locating and marking cemeteries in order to protect them from developers. So far there have been 85 cemeteries located that were not included in the book "In Remembrance". Anyone interested in volunteering for this project should contact Mr. Walter Cox, President of the Walton County Historical Society, (770) 267-9703. Once the task of locating and marking the cemeteries is complete, volunteers will be needed to help type the information.
