I Located 2 McKees in Laurel & Waynesboro,Ms with tons of Mckee, choctaw, jones, etc. info. 1 is "Dewey McKee" who is currently writing history of county school system. There was (or is) a McKee school there. He & some Texas McKee's have roots in Flint,Michigan(as do I, actually, never knew!) Also in Ca. Best of all, Dewey was taken to an abandoned cemetery by 2 McKee uncles when he expressed an interest in genealogy & Dewey got the Tx branch to assist him in restoring it. I have been sending to lists, county execs, & newspapers an article I found on-line about an Indiana county that hired 2 men to locate & restore abandoned cemeteries. Now I find Dewey & other relatives were ahead of this article. Makes me so proud to be related! A man here in Jersey City who is a list mgr for rootsweb wrote of a cemetery here that was in deplorable shape & was exhorting vast sums from descendents to give them info so I went there to check it out & luckily found it was under repair & new management. Then there was an article I found abt a rabbi in cahoots with a cemetery to resell burial plots covering over graves & tossing out records of burials that I sent around the www so folks who would never dream of such actions would become aware & watch out for it in their area. If anyone wants copes of these i am doroab@webtv.net & welcome chance to be assisted in fwd these articles & receiving any you find so i can fwd them. thanks to all of you & I hope someone doesn't object to this mail or to me sending it to 6 lists simultaneously. I won't make a habit of dong this unless I am encouraged to by 6 or more of you. So,pleasre don't think a "pain" has joined you! Anytime I'm wrong just say,ok? I'll try not to be wrongly using lists but am new to this, so unsure as to what is frowned on. Dorothy.
