    3. I would write to the County Courthouse. In Madison Co it's the Probate Office and very inexpensive. ($3.00 per record) In obtaining archived records in other states also I have always received them from the County itself. 3. Hi Bettie, The transcribed 1830 & 1870 Walton County, GA Census are already on line at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgwcens/help/ceninventory.html . I would like to propose that we use our money to first order some of the years that are not already available online. 3. Hi all, There has been an overwhelming vote to stay with S-K Publications! I would prefer this, too, since they are quick to answer any questions, take care of sending to USGENWEB, etc. Be assured that I would NEVER just go sending our monies to someone without first getting ya'll's approval! Thanks to all who have responded! Now...we have $230 I can order the 1830 & 1850 with money left over, or I can order the 1870, or I can order the 1880--we're $10 short, or I can wait until we get enough for the 1900, 1910, or 1920. What's your pleasure? Momma Walton <><

    2. Bettie Wood
    3. Hi again, First of all, just wanted ya'll to know that I'm NOT saying AllCensus is not a reputable company! I just know that S-K Publications is a reputable company, & does everything for us, as far as mailing etc. I'm still checking into this all, & trying to find out why one is so much cheaper than the other. I still need your input on this. Now about our surname project--do we want to wait longer to start this? Or how about the ones that want to particpate, write me, & we'll just do those that are interested? If anyone is not comfortable writing to the list about any of the above, then please write to me. You're opinions still count! Love today & every day! Momma Walton <><

    3. Hi all, I just wanted to check in real quick. Our surname project has supposedlu started with nothing on our AUSTIN ancestor. If our reseacrhers would give us a brief run down on spelling variations, what info you have, what you need, & then if anyone has any info on AUSTINs in the state of GA, please send that info to the list: GAWALTON-L@toosweb.com Starting on Saturday, March 11 we'll start on our GASTON surname. Now for the census-- We have $230 at the moment for our next census, with an addtional $35, & 3 unknown amounts coming in??? I've been doing some searching here & there, written some more letters, etc. I finally got a response from AllCensus. We can get the census images from them to put online. They have to mail them to me & then I have to mail to USGENWEB, for some reason. I haven't dealt with them before, & would like to hear if someone else has??? They have a few census images online, are a lot cheaper than S-K Publications, but they take 5 months to do their scans. Do ya'll want me to order one, then we can wait & see? Or do ya'll want to stick with a reputable company that does it all for us? Give me your input, please, Love Momma Walton <><

    1. [GAWALTON] GENCONNECT BOARDS & UPDATES
    2. Bettie Wood
    3. Hi all, I have four new cemeteries transcribed by Betty McGaughey: Bennett Cemetery, Bold Springs Baptist Cemetery, Bold Springs United Methodist Cemetery, & Herndon Cemetery. These URLs have been uploaded to our web site. There's also many new directions been added. Please take a look & tell me what I need to add or correct. Does anyone know if Annie Mary Cemetery & Herndon are the same cemeteries? I am steadily working on our marriage page again. I thought I had some mistakes (cause someone couldn't read these), tried to correct these "so-called" mistakes, & now I actually do have mistakes!! haha While I'm at it, I'm doing separate brides, & grooms pages too, so hopefully by week's end, I'll have all these set up & on our site. If you have some trouble with posting your queries to the GenConnect boards, don't worry. I received this message below concerning this "problem", & they should be up again soon. >>>>GenConnect will be undergoing scheduled maintenance starting tonight (Sun, March 5, 2000). We'll be rebuilding the indexes on the Global Search Engine. In order to do this, we'll need to take GenConnect offline for several hours, which may carry into the day on Monday. Once back online, there shouldn't be any performance issues, <<<< If you notice any thing later on, please report them to me. I'll bat them over the head & tell them get their act together--my "kids" don't need to be waiting!!! I'm joking of course--just wanted to see if you were listening! Tuesday will start our surname project. Our first surname will be AUSTIN. Make sure you have your info ready to send us. Any others with info on this surname need to send to the list. Hopefully this will work in giving us some new leads??? Our second surname will be GASTON. I'll try to post each surname 2 days in advance to help you prepare. This Friday will start Spring break, & I'm going to try & take some time off. I may be gone for a few days, & will leave "Granny Walton" (Dot) in charge, if she's available. Now ya'll will have to be careful with that gal, as she'll be having a birthday soon (15th to be exact!) I've had a wonderful weekend--hope ya'll have too! Love to add to a better week! 3. I know it's more fun to go through our web page, but this easier/faster, & ya'll need to read this anyway. By the way, this image was "on me", & none of our other money went for this one. I started using "our" money for the 1860 census. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/walton/census/1820/0000read.htm Momma Walton <><

    2. Bettie Wood
    3. I just got our first census image entered to our web site & uploaded, so take a look. Silly me, I got tears in my eyes to see another one of our projects "coming together". I'll have to fiddle with it some, when time permits so I can read it better. One page is kind of light, but most of the others look pretty good. I'm pooped again tonight, but very proud of myself. My filing job is almost completely complete. I've got everything filed, but now I'm hightlighting different items in various folders, & will have to check our web page to see if I've got the data on there yet. I'll let ya'll know when I'm done, so you can see if I've gotten your info! I only have one drawer full that goes in my "other" file cabinet that needs to be filed. This doesn't concern our web page, so I'll do it a bit at a time. Good night all--Love ya, Momma Walton <><
