Missed the alphabetical roll call. Thought I would try again. Hope no one minds! Trying to find anything on my PORTER family that was in Walton Co for a while. Epaphrodis Porter came to Walton from SC in 1835. He was born 1773. Had two sons, Edward S. b. 1805 and Ep Jr. b. abt 1810. My gx3 grandfather Edward S. had the following children in Walton Co. Jemima b. 1835 Mary Ann b. 1837 Sarah Ann b. 1839 Julia Ann b. 1840 Milly Elizabeth b. 1843 Cynthia Elizabeth b. 1845 Edward Taylor b. 1849 Edward S. moved to Cherokee Co. about 1850. Have no trace of Jemima, Mary, or Julia. May have been abducted! If these names ring any bells, please contact me. Thanks, Darrell Cook
Hi all, Lots going on here--we're in the middle of "remodeling", & trying to work that around hubby's job---well--it's been fun!! I'm so sore, & fingers & feet are swollen beyond recognition. I know it's my fingers & feet, though, cause that's where they've always been!! haha Anyway, I got notification that our 1900 census money has been received, & the target date for that one is late May. It actually cost $325, not $315, but I made up the difference. We have a total of $65 for the next census images, 1880????. There's still $30 supposed to be coming in, & an unknown amount. If you haven't sent yours, please do--please! Also, if you know of any businessessessssess??? in Walton Co., that might donate to this project, please let me know. I'll be happy to contact them, & go into more detail! Thanks to all who sent birthday cards, wishes, etc. Ya'll are the best! AND out of all my 46 years, I think this was probably one of the best!!! It was certainly very sweet---and HAPPY!! No one has commented on the Surname Helper on our web page. Is there any questions on it? It's very nifty thing to have. Give it a whirl, & let me know if you have any questions, comments, etc. Is there anything else we need to add? Also, our newbies need to send your info (or ideas) that you want added to our web page. I'll be working on the deathes & births soon. I have some, but not uploaded to our site yet. I'm still working on our marriages, brides, & grooms. I didn't realize I had so many. Also, I need to remind anyone that changes they're address. I can change this on the GenConnect boards, but I'll al;so need to change in some other areas too. One of the "Gen-Kids" is moving to her "old" neighborhood in Colorado, I think. She's supposed to be there Thursday. We wish you well, & will be glad to have you "back" home here too! It's that time again--- to repost your info! We have "babies" coming in all the time that just might be your line, or mine!!! Be sure & use the subject line, as Rootsweb search engines easily pick these up. Example: If I put in my subject line: 1)LOOKING FOR ANCESTORS, or 2)THOMAS RHOADES, which would get the better results?? Do you have other tips that would help in our search? If so, please pass them on. Many thanks go to Lowell HAYES for "directing" us to our cemeteries. He has really been working!!! Take a look at our cemetery page to see what I mean. Of course, there's many of you "behind the scenes" that deserve many thanks too! We all have talents. If you know yours, let me know & I'll put you to work!! I haven't heard yet if the Sewell cemetery is the one that was being looked for, but thanks for posting about it! That's all for now! I appreciate you all! Love you too, Momma Walton <>< "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you" John: 15:12

Hi gang, We now have $300 towards the 1900 census--only $15 to go. Have you sent your donations in yet? We didn't receive anything about AUSTIN surname, there's been a little on GASTON--can anyone fill in anything on these? Our next surname is JAMES, so someone fill us in, & then we'll see if we can provide anything more! Happy birthday to Dot COX yesterday--oops! Like some of us say "Better late than never!" We hope you have many more!! Love to all, by the bushels, Momma Walton <>< But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, faith. Galatians 5:22
Please forgive the duplicate post. Would anyone that is or has researched any Whitehead family in any of these above listed counties, please e-mail me privately. I am looking for the family of Mary Elizabeth Whitehead, her parents or any siblings. She is buried in the Social Circle Cemetery. She was born on April 12, 1847 (where?) she died April 30, 1894 in Social Circle. She married Judson O'Donald Shepherd on March 31, 1869 in Social Circle (I have a copy of the marriage license). I saw last week on a rootsweb page that there was a Benjamin and Mary Whitehead family in Walton Co. during this time period. All of the children listed for this family are listed on the Walton Co. grooms and brides list with spouses. The only male listed was a Allen or (as listed on LDS, Alben) Whitehead and Louisa E. Phillips. Louisa's date of birth is the same yr. as Mary's, so that doesn't seem to be possible unless, Allen(Alben) was married before. He was listed as 38 yrs. older than Louisa. Could Mary possibly have been the daughter of a first wife? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Billy Shepherd sheps@hom.net

Hi Walton Researchers, I had a major computer crash while installing a new Antivirus and lost everything. I am up and running again. I know that I had two or three pending look ups and don't have a way of retrieving them. Could you please write to me again if I haven't answered your request. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hi all, Just a note to update on our votes. The 1900 census images won the votes by at least 5. Thing is, it costs $325, & I only have $280 now. That leaves us $35 short. Some of the pledges haven't been sent yet. There's about another month before the 1860 census images will be online. I can send in what we have towards the 1900 & they can get it ordered. It will take about 2 months or so to get it in & then scan, so we could have the rest of the money before then. Let me know if you want to do this, ok? We have a new family member that is looking for info on: John BAXLEY and Rachel BENNETT. My understnding is, she is new to computers & probably genealogical research?? Does anyone have info on these families or surnames? Also, still looking for info on Sewell Cemetery. Is this one of the destroyed ones? I'll not be leaving for Spring break as planned, so I guess ya'll are stuck with me! I intend to have a nice productive week, though--just wish these allergies would leave me alone a bit!! It could be worse, though. Ya'll have a wonderful week, & God Bless, Momma Walton <><
