Fowler (1823 - 1894) and his second wife, Sarah M. Shaw Fowler (1828 - 1907) are both buried in the Antioch Cemetery near Cedar Grove. But what about Joel's first wife: Serphina T. "Sophie" Tipton? Does anybody have any idea what happened to her? Sophie and Joel had four children by 1851 and then? Was there a problem with the birth of her last (Mariah Fowler (McWhorter))? Did she run off with a traveling medicine show? And while I'm at it, does anybody have a _solid_ source that will confirm Joel's middle name was "Asbury"? Thanks... Ken, I read Joel's obit on your site. Do you know if the A.F. Shaw who eulogized him is Arba F. Shaw, son of William M. and Harriet Hardin SHAW?
