Hi, I am the County Coordinatoor for Walker County Georgia for GAGenWeb. The site is located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawalker/ for those of you who are unaware of the site. I am not the list mom for this list. They are separate things. I do not control this list in anyway and I really appreciate any responses which I get to statements, enquiries etc to be direct to me bclody@charter.net?subject=Cemeteries_of_Walker_County and off list as to not burden the rest of this list with traffic that may or may not having anything to do with this list other than the topic of Walker County Genealogy. That said I have been very busy the last two weeks putting up driving directions to the various cemeteries in Walker County. Of the ones that are not yet up I only have the M's, the N's and the O's left to generate directions two. The rest have actually been generated but some are not posted yet but most will go up this weekend. Why am I bringing this information to this list? 1. Is so as people who have an interest in Walker County Genealogy you are aware the directions now exist. 2. is that I do not live in Walker County and as a result without feed back from folks who actually do I will never know about road closings, washouts and such and I do not have a way to know if some of the cemeteries which I have generated directions to are actually on private property. These things I would like to know but without your help I cannot know them. 3. I have a number of cemeteries that I have transcriptions of and then after doing a search of US government records I find there are 2 cemeteries with the same name in the county. I have no way of knowing which of the two cemeteries the transcriptions came from. So I am hoping some kind soul who is versed in Walker County Genealogy and either lives their or can tell from the cemetery books which of the cemeteries have data transcribed when their are multiple same name cemeteries. Most of these I will end up leaving like their are three cemeteries where there are actually two. One that has transcription data and two that have driving directions until such time as I can pair up the trancribed data with one of the two real cemeteries. For those of you who are seeking a particular cemetery be patient it will be up in a day or two. If you want to visit this weekend, email me and I will change the order in which I am posting them so yours goes up next. If you are going next weekend be patient it will be up in the next 2 or 3 days. Bill Clody County Coordinatoor Walker County Georgia.
