The typed one is much easier to follow. Wondering how long you've had your copy. My uncle Jack had the original (Jack was the son of gr-grandpa Taylor)... after he died, my cousin Jackie (Jack's daughter) got the original. About the Indians... I've seen several other references to the death of William's mother. I'll have to dig to see exactly where I've seen it. Another reference to the scalping... in the Walker Co. Families book, another lady documented this as her family heard it.... same story as the one I was told, as passed down by word of mouth & in the hand-written history. I believe the other reference was in a history book of Tennessee.... will look. I've never heard about a Hale. Sheila
