I am researching these families in Walker County. Recently, I received an email from Connee Kroeger, another Wood researcher, regarding the patriarch of the Wood family in South Carolina. (See below) I am looking for any descendants of --SAMUEL A.1 BRICE was born 1809, and died 1879. He married ANN WOOD, daughter of ROBERT WOOD and REBECCA TRAYLOR. She was born 26 Apr 1810, and died 28 Oct 1873.--They are both buried at Rock Spring Methodist Church Cemetery, Rock Spring, Walker Co, GA, along with her mother Rebecca Traylor Wood. Here is information from Connee Kroeger: Hello, I just visited the Andrus GenForum and found you 4 people to be obviously knowledgeable about Benjamin Andrus. I am a volunteer at Clayton Library in Houston, and today, I shelved a book written on Andruses. Because I have an Anders line, I was curious enough to open the book and start going through it. Didn't take any notes or copy anything, as I have access to the book constantly. I am thinking your line holds the key to my Anders family.....perhaps! I have an ancestor named William Allen b.c. 1760. His first wife was Keziah Anders, daughter of a William Anders who died in North Carolina around 1820. We have never been able to find a probate for him, so either it was destroyed or else the name was really Andrews, Anderson, or possibly Andrus. The only clue we have is from a St. Helena Parish (not far from St. Landry!!) document in which all the children of Keziah Anders Allen (who died in TN in the 1790's) name their brother John (whose middle name is BENJAMIN) as power of attorney to go to NC to claim their mother's share of William Anders' estate. In this book I looked at today, I saw the name William Andrews in Edgecomb Co. in the records with Benjamin, and I believe the author said something about William being a brother to Benjamin. I am thinking that the brother of Benjamin might be my lost William Anders. Do any of you know anymore about him? William Allen and Keziah Anders may have married in NC, since her father was still there many years later. They then moved to GA briefly where their first child was born. Then, they moved to TN, probably Green Co. where Keziah died after having a page-full of children. William then married Hannah Pride, moved to Wilkinson Co. MS and quickly to St. Helena Parish, LA. He actually died in TX, making me a seventh generation Texan. Strangely enough, I have several female cousins whose direct maternal line goes back to Keziah Anders. If I could just talk them into taking dna tests, we would have a profile for Keziah Anders. But, they haven't seemed interested enough to do it, even if I pay for it. My line is William Anders>Keziah Anders>Lydia Allen>Lydia Stephenson>Elizabeth Williams>Mabel Eugenie Haynes>D.M. Brown>me Please let me know what you think about this possibility that my Anders might be your Andrews/Andrus family, and please let me know anything you know about William, brother to Benjamin. Does anyone know who he married? If he married a Lydia, I will be convinced I am barking up the right tree. Thanks, Connee Kroeger
Are you a descendant of the Robert Jackson WOOD (WOODS) who was son of Susan ABERCROMBIE and Nathan Richmond WOODS (WOOD) who migrated from Walker County, Georgia to Sebastian County, Arkansas??? Robert J. remained in Walker County when his parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother all went to Arkansas.
