I have a site at GeoCities and it has the same annoying problem. The "shortcut" address does not work and seldom (if ever) has but GC continues to use this despite my trying to get it changed. Many search engines and genealogy lists have my WEB pages linked with the unusable shortcut. I have repeatedly tried to get FTM's search engine to change my links but they will not and therefore, people who find my pages through FTM seldom can reach my site. I expect it is the same for other search engines. Although I have submitted my URLs to several search engines, including FTM, Yahoo and others, and I used the full GeoCities address, their crawlers apparently check out the pages and record the shortcut URLs instead. I am now searching for a new home for my WEB pages. If you have trouble connecting to any GeoCities or Yahoo site using a "shortcut" URL, please try to visit the site again using it's full address! I have many of my URLS book marked and never had any trouble with any of them. When rootsweb did there revamping several weeks ago. I have had trouble with many that I had book marked, so whatever changes they made during that time did affect many of my bookmarks. Some still come up with the explanation that was posted by rootsweb at the weekend of revaming.. Don't know if this is of help to anyone. I was passing Walker Co on to friends not knowing it had been affected. I have passed on several others from TN and Al and received notices again telling me they weren't working. Going in and then checking my bookmarks after your postings , I found quite a few not working. Wla
