I was just reminded of a book I had gotten many years ago. I had read it then, and still have it but had forgotten about it. The book was written in 1977 and is 'The Old Miner and His Guardian Angel' by Earnest Hollingsworth (of Walker County). I just this year found out that we are related. But so is everybody in the county. The book contains a good insight into early county life and particularly the Durham mines where he worked for a while. It even has one picture of the area around the mine. According to the Dade Co. Message Board, the Dade library doesn't have a copy of it. Does anybody know if there is a copy in the Walker Co. library? I would recommend getting and reading it.
Duke, I talked to Betty Johnson today in the LaFayette Library and no, they do not have a copy of this book by Earnest Hollingsworth either. They would like a copy. Linda Sue hasn't answered about where it can be found yet. If anyone knows, I wish they would let me know.
