Dear, Dear Linda Sue, What an angel we WALKER COUNTY GA FAMILIES have in you. God has surely opened up Heaven and poured out His blessings! May He grant you an extra jar of Geritol or that other "stuff" those GA mtns were once known for - whatever it takes to get you through all the prep work and follow-up work that goes into hosting a reunion such as this. And I thought I had done something just to plan a family reunion in south GA or upstate NY!! I am going to go to bed now and cover up my head and have a good cry!! Our gt-granddaughter will be 2 yrs old on 13 July in FL! :( Granny Jane will never be allowed to rock that sweet child if I miss that b'day party!! I do miss being seeing her on a regular basis. However, really now - how much do you think a 2 yr old will miss seeing her Granny Jane and Poppa Russ. She will have so many other relatives there. Do you think I can just get by with sending her a big gift and a large blow up poster of us? Her parents and grandparents can just fold the poster over and pretend to be talking to us! Then hubby and I could get a running start; bet we could climb those GA mtns with our RV. Hubby isn't convinced!! Is there a campground anywhere in the area? Our "Woodall's Camping" book is out-of-date; may have some I don't know about. Any help from anyone regarding camping facilities for a large rig and a lg Ford truck would be most appreciated. Oh, fiddle-dee-dee!! Guess I would have a bent back from carrying that big ole guilt sack if we didn't go to the birthday bash. Our son and wife [grandparents of said child] will be coming here the end of July. Can't hurt my dear daughter-in-love's feelings over this situation!! This calls for a whole lotta praying over!! :) :) If we can't make it to the reunion this year, I will try to print out some family tree files, including pictures, and send them to you. I have a special cousin in Walker Co who is very interested in family history and knows about almost every family in the area. Maybe I can talk him into going in my place - I was planning to take him!! Please keep me in the loop as the day draws near. Hope someone will be in charge of video-taping the entire weekend and sell copies of the tape. It would be a good fund-raising item with proceeds to go toward expenses of the reunion and/or to go to the Local History Room at the LaFayette-Walker Co Regional Lib. I would certainly buy one or more copies and I think our Genealogical Society would purchase one for our Local Hist Room. A number of people from NC went to Walker Co GA.
