    2. Can't remember if I replied to this. I've called & talked to Pat... I don't have much that you don't about Powells. I have seen small bits & pieces in history books, etc... still looking. Pat has sent me a list of names so I'll keep an eye out for those. About the mailing list... I'm not totally UP on how it works. Not sure if only the person I reply to gets a message or if ALL get the message I type. Also, I noticed that I'm answering messages written to you directly.... sorry if I messed up! lol..... I didn't mean to trample your turf! If I do something I shouldn't, let me know ok? Sheila

    1. [GAWALKER] From List Mom - Please Read - Regarding Viruses
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members - PLEASE DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS on the personal e-mail you are receiving without being 100% plus sure who it is from and that it is not a virus and the only way you can be this sure is run a Virus Scan. The new one now is "Homepage" If you open the Homepage attachment, it sends a copy of itself to everyone in your address book. Homepage then randomly chooses an adult Web page to display on the system's default Internet browser." To learn more aobut this one go to http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,2708116,00.html Homepage is just one of many. If you would like to know more about all of this you can join the Virus Discussion Mailing list by sending the word Subscribe to VIRUS-DISCUSSION-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM We are going to be OK. These viruses cannot be sent through Rootweb so it is up to each of us to protect our fellow members. When I get a message from one of you and see that you have the virus, your e-mail address is unsubscribed from the mailing list until you get your computer system clean and then you are welcomed back with open arms. Just remember - do not open ANY attachements unless you are sure it is not a virus. If you are not sure - delete it. Those of us who are deeply nvolved in our genealogical research are so fearful that we are going to delete that one clue, which we have been waiting for, that many of us are opening these attachements - taking the chance - and because of this we are being hit hard by the virus. I appreciate your help with this. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. You would need to look at it in a gif animation editor. There are quite a number of them out there including some freeware and shareware editor. I think whoever set this one up set the time between scenes to short. That is also something you can do in an animated gif editor. Bill If you want to download one try searching www.tucows.com and search for animation editor. Tucows is probably the premier freeware shareware site. ----- Original Message ----- From: villanow@mindspring.com To: GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, May 11, 2001 7:34 PM Subject: [GAWALKER] Re:Great visual 5/11/01 7:30pm EDT Kathleen sent the link below. 2. Linda Sue, I'm getting confused... too many people related to the Wallen/Wallin/Walden/Walling family lol! Did I send you my typed copy of my gr-granddaddy's journal (with the deleted section that was totally WRONG)? I also have an update that I typed of our family which you might like to have. Let me know if I sent it. I'm interested in hearing about your visit w/your Wallin/Hixson relative.... I'd LOVE to meet her. I LOVE old people... my grandmother (Taylor Walden's daughter) died Jan. 2000... she was the most WONDERFUL lady, fully of fun & knowledge.... she was the joy of our lives! The stories she could tell! lol.... I have typed some of them in my book to pass on. Anyway... let me know of your visit... & if she remembered Taylor Walden & his family. They moved from the Cove to Chattanooga near the time that Taylor Walden wrote his journal, but perhaps she remembers some of his family. Sheila :)

    2. Elisha, the Longhunter is the name of the book. I got it by typing in "USED BOOKS" using www.dogpile.com as a search engine. Then I went to the used book websites & typed in the title. This book appears to be easy to find... I found several copies. My copy said "USED" but looks like it had never been opened. I think I paid about 35.00 for it. Sheila
