Delores, There is quite a bit of info on the COULTERs in the Walker County Library, LaFayette. Doris Coulter Hetzler did a lot of research on them in her life time. They lived in McLemore Cove. My 3rd great grandmother, Louisa White was married to Joel Cooper in 1818. She died in Jasper County, GA in 1835. Louisa's parents were Thomas White and Mary A. Hunt, both from Dublin Ireland. Joel and Louisa had a son they named for Louisa's brother, John Ervin White. The son, John Ervin Cooper married his first cousin, Winnie Rebecca Cooper. John died in a Civil War prison camp, Camp Morton, in Nov. 1863, in Indianapolis, IN and is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery there. Will exchange information on these lines. Floyd Cooper Indianapolis
I would also be interested in the information on Newton White. Floyd Cooper Indianapolis

Sue, can I do this? Every year when I renew my subscription to Ancestry com, they send me an updated version of the book "PRINTED SOURCES, A GUIDE TO PUBLISHED GENEALOGICAL RECORDS", since I have the new one (I can't find any difference) can I donate the other one to the library in Walker County. I was going to give it to the library here but I would rather it go to one I had connections to the county. Or if they have one, can I send it to Dade County? delilah evans

Freddie - I don't have a Frederick or Fred White at all in my database. We don't know where our Edward Ellison WHITE was born either. Supposedly in Tennessee. His tombstone and other family records show he was born on May 18, 1830, and that he was a Mason and a farmer and a brickmaker who donated the bricks for the foundation of the Antioch Baptist Church. He was also supposed to be the first one buried there. We visited his grave 3 weeks ago, and intend to see if the church has further into on him or his history. I will keep your email in case something turns up. Thanks for the inquiry. humm now we got a mystery to solve Bonnie
One of the opening pages of the on-line obit index gives ordering instructions and cost. I think the charge is $11.00 for one obit. The staff on the 3rd floor, genealogy and local history, are always helpful to me also. They do get many mail request for the obits as I've have been up there at times when a staff member was pulling microfilm to makes the requested copies. Leslie, I have been to the genealogy department at the Chattanooga Library and they have a large crew manning the department. I would guess that they would get the obits pulled and back to you in a reasonable amount of time. They are quite helpful and have put up with a lot of dumb questions from me and they are continually on the go pulling information for someone. If you supplied them with the name, date of obit, and newspaper name they should not have any trouble at all. Even when I go up there I go on their website and get a list of the names, dates, and newspapers that I want to look at the obits in before I go and print it out. If they don't get it back in a reasonable time I would call them. Good luck, Paula ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie Maddocks" <Maddocks@ix.netcom.com> To: <GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com> > Delilah - > > I am just curious if you are referring to obtaining an obit from the Walker > Co. Thanks for your efforts on the BIRD family Deborah, I appreciate it a lot. I have a list of BIRDS that are buried in the many cemeteries in Walker county, hoping to tie some of them to my Mary Ann. Without a clue to her parents or siblings, it's pretty tough.!!! So, you are in Alabama huh? My family roots are Stewart's Crossroads, St Clair Co Alabama [just east of Birmingham] Thanks again, Freddie B Stewart in Massachetts
Bonnie White, Did your husband's grandfather John Ruffin WHITE or Edward Ellison WHITE have any relations named Frederick H. WHITE? He was born Apr 26-1843 Tn d. Nov 2-1897 in Scott Co Ar. Just a chance? Freddie B Stewart in Massachusetts
