    2. If you can get a copy of Murray Co Heritage, it will be of benefit, I think There are two full pages of the George W PHILLIPS family. George W b Nov l3 l862 Fannin Co Ga--d May 2, ll937 Murray Co GA was the son of James H Phillips, Sr (b Apr 2 l825 England, d Sept 26 l884 Fannin Co GA) James emigrated from Cornwall Eng in l856 to Fannin Co to enter into the copper mining business. Due to the Civil War and the mines playing out, he opened a store in the community of Pierceville near where Mobile Baptist Church is located. The old Phillips home is still there. James and his firest wife, Loveda, who came from Eng with him had one son James H, Jr (b l850 Eng--d l900 Leadville Colo) Loveda d in l858, two years after arriving in America. James then md Maartha BAlalock and they were the parents of.five children. . . . .I hope this will help. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 2. Emma, I am a Massey descendent twice. I descend from Avis Massey who married John Parrish Sr and also from her brother Nathan Massey who married Dorothy ? and had Sarah Sallie Massey. She married John Childress JR. Their daughter Nancy Childress was the first wife of John Parrish JR. Some of the folks in your email where siblings to Sarah Sallie and the others where from the same linage. My cousin Jan Childress Rau's husband Lee has done much research on this family. I will be happy to send you what I have in a download ( with all the virus's going around I wanted to ask first) Hope this helps Linda Sue

    1. [GAWALKER] Need Help with IVESTER, EASON, & MASSY(MASSEY) folks
    2. Hi Everyone, I could really, really use some help with a problem I have in Walker county. I am hunting information on a Jacob Ivester. I believe his father was a John Ivester. John Ivester and his wife Elizabeth Helms are last found in the 1820 census of Rutherford Co., NC with 2 males under 10 years of age. At that point they disappear. Then... in the 1850 census of Walker Co., Georgia I find these folks: #1368 Jacob Ivester - 30 - farmer - NC Nancy - 24 - SC John - 5 - Ga Monroe - 3 - Ga (Asa Monroe, my great grandfather) Reuben - 1 - Ga Elizabeth - 1 - Ga And then very near to them in the census is this family: #1373 Eason, John B. - 24 - farmer - Ga Elmira - 19 - SC James T. - 1 - Ga In 1860 both of these families are listed together in the Craighead Co., Arkansas census. We believe that Elmira Eason's maiden name was Ivester and we also believe that she might be a sister to Jacob Ivester. However, other possibilities also exist. By the way, later on John Eason and Elmira also name a child Asa. In fact, these two families name their children with a lot of the same names. I have recently found that some funeral home records in Missouri for one of their children gives Nancy's maiden name as Massey(Massy). So now... I am on a search for a Massey/Massy family that might be Nancy's parents. And perhaps there is a possibility that Nancy and Elmira are sisters. I found the following in the 1850 census for Walker Co. #1339 Sarah Massy - 47 - SC with: Reuben, age 17; Sarah, age 12; Frances F., age 9 and Margaret McClanihan, age 80 #1610 Clem Massy, age 48, Ga with: Anna, age 47; Viney Clarkson, age 25; Parthena, age 23; Franklin, age 19; Minerva, age 14; Enoch, age 9; John Clarkson, age 4 #1631 Starling Massy, age 25, SC with Martha, age 24; Wm. age 5; Nancy L., age 3 and Wm. E., age 26 #1747 Warren Massey, age 63, NC with: Nancy, age 53; Martin, age 15; John, age 12; & Nathan, age 17. #1774 Richard H. Massy, age 33 - SC with: Mary M. - age 31; Susy, age 7, James R., age 5; Sarah E., age 4; & Jacob W., age 1. #1782 Wilson Massy, age 30 - SC with: Rachel, age 28; Martha, age 6; John, age 5; Charity, age 3; & Wm. G., age 1/12 #1806 James Massey, age 36, NC with: Patsey, age 35; Wm. M., age 14; James H., age 12; margaret C., age 9; Sarah M., age 8; John P., age 5; & Jeremiah, age 2. By any chance is anyone working on any of these Massy folks? I really would appreciate any assistance on these folks. Thanks so much - Emma

About 70 of the Self-related families in Walker county removed to Scott county, AR, in 1870. John & Martha's brother Daniel B. The three of Polly's eight children I have marriage documentation for joined with the Ballard, Farnsworth and Ammons families -- which were also among those who removed with my Self group from Walker county. They all did stay very much together as a close-knit social group after moving from GA to AR, and frequently intermarried within the group for 2-3 generations. That's as as close as I've got to any connected info on your Masseys, but maybe it will be of some help to you in sorting them out. Bryce W. Self Redwood City, CA

    1. [GAWALKER] From List Mom - 4th Quarterly Report 2001
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members: The Holiday Season is over and I am back home again. I want to thank each of you for helping to keep our list running smoothly while I was spending Christmas with three of my children and their families in Delaware and Maryland. I had a wonderful time but came down the flu the day after Christmas which turned in to pneumonia so my week away from you turned into over two weeks. I am doing better, still weak and coughing but on the road to better heath. One other problem while I was away, I had downloaded a huge amount messages on my laptop while in Delaware and my laptop crashed. If you tried to send me a personal message from the 23rd to the 30th of December, I lost it and you will need to re-send. It is time again for your last Quarterly Report for 2001 as to the membership of the GAWALKER Mailing List and additional items of interest. The GAWALKER Mailing List has 156 members, 129 of these are subscribed to the Regular List and 37 to the Digest List. If you would like to visit the archived messages you may go to http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and type in GAWALKER. From there you can search by keyword. There is a great Rootsweb site you can go to if you want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ I want to thank each of you for continuing to help make this list the success it is. I also want to thank you for your support of me and your willingness to follow the list rules. I have been a List Mom now since 1997 and truly feel I have the best List Members out there who have subscribed to the Mailing Lists I take care of for Rootsweb. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a member says Says "Happy Birthday Joan" and then Joan says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Joan". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Please keep your Virus Scan updated as often as possible. If by chance one of our members unknowingly sends out a virus, please let me take care of it behind the scenes. Know that if you received it, I most likely did also. If you are concerned that I am not aware of the effected system, contact me personally KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net Please do not post to the entire list the name and e-mail address of the person you feel has the virus. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html I wish for each of you a success in the year 2002 with your most difficult genealogical mystery.
