>OK, I have asked this question and have not got a reply so here goes again >- I have a lot of resources and things/information I have collected - one >being the book History of Walker County Georgia - Hi -- I have saved your message fron back in Oct. 2001 and am wondering if this history book is indexed and if it has any mention of Jeffcoat. At one time, think shortly after the CW, there was a Joel Jeffcoat in Walker Co. and have found one other reference to a Jeffcoat there. I am trying to find as much information as I can about these people to see how they fit into my family. I have two Joel's and so far haven't been able to connect them to the one in Walker. Elsie, I would be interested to know your links to the Flynn/Flinn's? One of my g grandmothers was a Tryphena Flynn/Flinn from Sevier County, TN. You have so many similar names that I thought maybe your ancestors came from the same area. I also have Walker's, Headrick's and possibly the others married to aunts and cousins etc. Check out my pages at http://www.geocities.com/huntingkin I have just put online a new page for Whitfield County. GA too. It is at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/whitfield Paula Franklin ----- Original Message ----- From: <e.hollifield@att.net> To: <GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 18, 2002 3:21 PM Subject: Re: [GAWALKER] Walker County News > Elsie > > -- > BLAIR,HICKS,HIX,TIPTON,HEADRICK,HED > RICK,FLINN,FLYNN,HATCHER,WALKER,MAN > ES,MANIS,MANNIS,SHIPMAN,GOSSETT,RAI > NES

Is anyone on the list working on the Blackwell family of Walker Co, GA? John Blackwell came to Walker Co, GA by way of Cherokee Co, AL (where his son Tyre Blackwell was living) from Rutherford Co, NC about 1830. John was very elderly at the time of his move. I am interested in tracking his children to determine whether Celia Ann Susan Elizabeth Blackwell could have been his Granddaughter. She was born in approx 1822 probably in NC(census records show both NC and GA as birthplace). Celia Ann married first a ? Ledbetter and had one son, J Marion Ledbetter born 1840 in GA. The Ledbetter must have died, in 1846 in Chattooga Co, GA Celia Ann married James Worley. By 1850, James and Celia Ann were living in Cherokee Co, AL. In their HH was an Elizabeth Davis age 70. Hope someone can help. Thanks! Georgia
I live not far from the site and am very upset about it. I am glad that my mother went to different funeral home and was crem. there. Hello Loretta...It has been on CNN, Headline News, Fox News...The Crematory down in Noble...instead of cremating the bodies that were turned over to them...apparently they have been stockpiling them...their crematory apparently has not been working for some time...Sheriff Steve Wilson has been on the case since Friday Night...At 2:30 today they had opened some other vaults to find them packed with remains...they estimate that there may be around 200 bodies...it is very shocking...Sheriff Wilson is going to have a news conference at 5:30...so if you have anyway of watching CNN...they are covering it... ----- Original Message ----- From: <LJDGenieNut@aol.com> To: <GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 18, 2002 3:23 PM Subject: Re: [GAWALKER] Walker County News ----- Original Message ----- From: <LJDGenieNut@aol.com> To: <GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 18, 2002 3:23 PM Subject: Re: [GAWALKER] Walker County News Hi Kathy What happened to these people close to your home? For all you outside Walker County - in the newspaper dated Feb 13, 2002, on the front page is a great article about trying to stop the expansion of a quarry that is said will destroy part of Pigeon Mountain and destroy some of the old caves and cemetaries in the path - there is also a photo of part of Shaw Cemetary - a web site http://www.pigeonmountain.org has been set up by Friends of Pigeon Mountain - perhaps someone still in the county can tell more about this quarry expansion, we need to try and perserve all we can for future generations. delilah evans
Just wanted to remind all you local people about the free workshop tomorrow, Saturday, the 16th, at the Chattanooga-Hamilton Co Bicentennial Library, 3 p.m. Dr. George Sweitzer will be the speaker and his topic is Tracing Civil War Genealogy. If you all haven't heard Dr. Sweitzer before you have really missed hearing a very good speaker. If you have heard him before, you know you don't want to miss hearing him again!! Sponsored by the East TN Genealogical Society, local sponsors Delta Genealogical Society, Dade County Historical Society, Chattanooga/Hamilton County Bicentennial Library and the Greater Area Chattanooga Historical Society (forgive me if I have the last name a little bit wrong.) This is a free workshop and seating is limited. Sue
