She was the daughter of Thomas BRICE and Melissa SHARROCK and was born 4 Mar 1876 in DeKalb Co, AL. Would like to find more information on Mary Texas's siblings, Harry, Fanny and Annie. Also, whether this BRICE family is any way connected to Samuel BRICE buried in Rock Spring (Pea Vine?). MORRIS: John Columbus MORRIS, b. 5 Jul 1860 in Whitfield Co, GA, the son of George Washington MORRIS and Susannah AULT. George Washington MORRIS: believe b. 5 May 1826 in Clarke Co, GA, son of Garrett MORRIS? AULT: Susannah, daughter of Jacob AULT and Sarah HANNAH. Born Knox Co, TN. Buried in Whitfield Co, GA. Married George Washington Morris probably in Walker Co about 1859, but they are on the 1860 census of Whitfield County. SHARROCK: Melissa b. c. 1842-43 in Mississippi, daughter of William C. SHARROCK and Katherine DREXEL(?). Married Thomas BRICE c. 1868, first daughter, Jacoline, b. in Dekalb Co, AL 1869. Jacoline probably died, as she is not listed with the family in the 1880 census of Dade Co, GA. In that census, Melissa is a widow with 4 children: Harry, Fannie, Thomas Annie, and Mary Texas. Melissa died in 1907 and is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN. About 1882, Melissa surrendered 3 of the children, Harry, Fannie and Mary Texas to the Vine Street Orphanage in Chattanooga. No reference to Thomas Annie at that time. Unknown what happened to Melissa between 1882 and 1907. Searching for clues, of course! Linda Duke Brewster "It is well that war is so terrible - we should grow too fond of it" - General Robert E.
