I think this John Benjamin Nabors died near Dade Co and is buried in the old McGill Cemetery in Wauhatchie (Hamilton Co). I would have to check my records to be sure. His father(?) Benjamin was buried just inside the Dade County line and his grave, his wife and a son is in danger of being destroyed by business out of Chattanooga. I know this is not according to rules but Lebron, Dave posted twice on this roll call... once yesterday just before 12 p.m. I grew up knowing Dave and Marianne and if this is the person I know, this is a shock! Dear List Members, This Roll Call is over. I want to thank each of your for making it the success it was. I know that Roll Calls cause lots of extra mail, and the way you handled this one is appreciated by myself and your fellow members of this list. If you missed the Roll Call, you are still welcome to post your information and your queries, but PLEASE do not place Roll Call in the subject line. I would also appreciate it if each of you would be careful in the next few days and watch your Subject lines to make sure that we are not passing on the words Roll Call. Again I thank you for your support. It is because of each of you that our list is a great place to share information about our ancestors and the areas they came from, migrated to and settled in. James F. David and wife, Rachel lived or passed through Walker Co in April, 1859 as confirmed by the birth of their son, William Marion David on April 14, 1859 in Walker Co. Previously the family was from Campbell Co, Tennessee. By the civil war this family was in Arkansas where James F. enlisted in the Confederate Army. Other family members were probably with them. William Jefferson David and Thomas Benton David were James' brothers. There was also his father, Sampson. Any information would be appreciated. Gaye David

AND... descendants of these two family marry for a couple of generations. For a while we had wondered of Nancy's maiden name was Eason and that she was a sister to John Eason. Family information also indicates that John Eason's wife Elmina was an Ivester. For years I have hunted for Nancy's maiden name. Have recently found some funeral records in Stoddard Co., Missouri that indicate her name was Massey. Would this by any chance match up with anything you might have about the Massey family. Thanks so much and take care - Emma
I would like to say a big thank you to Kathleen. This is one of the best managed lists that I subscribe to. I subscribe to a couple where the list manager/mom is not ever or infrequently heard from. People on those lists as a result, call roll calls whenever and whereever they feel like it. On some of them that can generate several hundred messages with very few if any guidelines. Fights break out all the time over excessive posting to the list and postings relative to virus attacks are constant. About 1/2 to 1/3 of all postings are actually on topic. Being on this list is tremendous because it is a constant reminder of what all lists could be and should be. Bill Clody --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Looking for info on Charles Carlos Sabonia Gordy(born 1870 Walker County, Georgia)...the son of Noah Gordy and Delaney Walston...Carlos married Emma Redmond(Born 1876 Alabama)...they had eight children...William Everett, Cecil, John Leonard, Joseph, Eugene, Fred, Fannie Mae and Eleanor...Any info on this family would be very much appreciated...
Hello Kathy, Here's just a bit more you may not have for Charles -- Emma (Redmond) Gordy died 01/26/1928 in Chattanooga, and later that year C.C.S. Gordy remarried to Amanda Pearl (Jay) Gordy, widow of his brother, Adolphus Lee Gordy. Amanda was born 02/05/1880 in Catoosa county, GA, and died 09/29/1964 in Cleveland, Bradley county, TN. Dates for Adolphus are 01/28/1868 (Catoosa county) to 01/29/1912 (Walker county). He married Amanda in July 1897, and had previously been married to her sister, Minnie L. Jay (1868-01/29/1897). Amanda and Minnie were daughters of John Charles Jay, Sr. (1838-1912) and Martha A. "Sis" Harris (1844-1924). This Martha was a daughter of William Lewis Harris (1816-1890) and my ggg-aunt Mary Alice Self (1821-aft.1888). Mary Harris was daughter of Jesse Self (1782-1868) who came to Walker county in 1834. Sorry I don't have anything for you that is more "direct." Happy Hunting, Bryce W. I am looking for the Taylor who married Banina Adams about 1865, They were the parents of my grandfather Marion Jepthia Taylor b July 1866 d 1933. My ggfather, Robert Alexander Robinson, (b- June 08, 1856 d- July 18, 1929) married Nancy Annie Wilson (b-December 14, 1856 d-May 30, 1939.) Nancy Annie Wilson was the daughter of Benjamin Capus Wilson and Elizabeth Lucinda Adams of Walker County. All of these persons were laid to rest in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Walker County. Robert was the son of John Robinson of Bradley County Tennessee. I have (thanks to the Walker County book "The first 150 years") some really good information on the Wilson families. I have from other data good information on the Robinsons from Robert on down, but am having trouble with Robert's line going back. Robert left Bradledy County after the 1970 census and apparently came to Walker County. The next time I caught up with him was in the 1900 census in Summerville GA. Eventually, the family moved back to Walker county. Anyone with information on this line please contact me. Thanks Steve Robinson Ooltewah TN 423-238-4000
