    1. [GAWALKER] Memorial Day Cemetery Photos
    2. Paula
    3. Hi All, The following message was posted on another mailing list that I subscribe to and I thought it might be a good idea to pass along. A lot of you will be going there to make those pics anyway so why not add a few more as a kindness to those not able to be there to make their own. Some may not be able to travel and some may just live too far away. Do other genealogy researchers a big favor and include those extras. Then if you will email them to me and specify the cemetery, I will post them online for other researchers to see. > Greetings, all! > With this weekend being Memorial Day, and several of you will be > traveling to cemeteries, I would like to suggest that you take a digital > camera with you, and take some photos of the tombstones in the cemeteries > that you visit. Small cemeteries can easily be covered by one person, but > larger cemeteries would need several people to take photos. > This is just an idea I'm floating/proposing, since cemeteries usually > look their best at Memorial Day, and it usually isn't too hot yet to be > out. >>so there is somewhere to put all these photos once we gather them. On behalf of all the other researchers out there and myself I would like to thank you in advance for your kindness. 1. [GAWALKER] Looking for any clues as to who Charles Smith was
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Charles Smith is found in the Hamilton Co., TN U.S. Census in 1830. He was living most likely in the area of Hamilton County that is on the boarder of Walker Co., GA. The census gives his age as between 50 and 59. There is a female in the household between 30 and 39 and a very young boy (daughter? daughter-in-law?) I have not been able to find any information on Charles Smith before 1830 or after 1830. Living next to him is a James M. Smith, age 20 to 29, and several families away is a Layton Smith 30 to 39, William Smith 30 to 39 and a George Smith 30 to 39. Are they connected to Charles, don't know but would love to know. Kathleen Burnett

    3. Fran, I tried to do a search for your family on ancestry.com last night but didn't come up with anything for sure. I really need more information to be of any help to you. If you will email me personally I will try and help. I love working with newbies. I have been doing research on my family for 25 years but that doesn't mean I know a lot. Ha! Someone may have already helped you but if not I'll be glad to see what I can do for you. 2. Paula
    3. Fred, I am not for sure about the cemetery but there is a cemetery near New Liberty Baptist Church. New Liberty is at 923 Graysville Rd., Ringgold, GA. If you put that into Yahoo maps it will come up with driving directions. According to my map that I bought at the Golden Gallon (it's one of those grid maps and shows schools, churches, cemeteries, etc., mine is for Hamilton, Dade, Walker & Catoosa counties), if you take Graysville Rd. from Indian Springs on Hwy. 41 the church will be on your left across from the Elementary School. Then on down on the left is Wooten road and if you turn left onto it there is a Cemetery Rd. on the right and the map shows a cemetery on the left. There is also a fire station in the vicinity of the church and the school so they may be able to help you there. Also someone on the Catoosa County mailing list might be of more help. Good luck, Paula http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/whitfield/ ----- Original Message ----- From: <FDfost@aol.com> To: <GAWALKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 6:19 PM Subject: [GAWALKER] New Liberty Cemetery > Looking for directions from Interstate 75 or old US 41 to the Black section > of New Liberty Cemetery near Graysville, GA. 3. Oops, wrong direction for Bridgeport, AL if you go south from La Fayette, down the old Highway toward Alabama. That directions, (goes through Chattooga Co GA first), takes you toward Gaylesville, AL and Centre. Bridgeport is on the west southwest side of Chattanooga, TN. Usually there is more than one way to get to a place... From Walker Co., one would probably go through South Pittsburg (Marion Co) then down to Bridgeport as it is near the Marion Co TN line in Jackson Co AL. 1. [GAWALKER] Frederick H. WHITE:
    2. Hi Listers, Yep, It's me again, Freddie B. Stewart in Charlton Massachusetts. I have found a Frederick WHITE that was listed in the "Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System", as being in the Union Cavalry, 4th Tennessee Reg. Company 'G' & 'M' I also ran across another web site that lists a Frederick WHITE who appears to be the same as the above except that it also lists him born "about 1842", the rank of Private, Company 'G' Can anyone provide any additional information about him? Thanks Walker County Georgia researchers............... Freddie B.

    2. I am not researching the Clark or Coffman lines, so my information is limited...however, Center Post, GA (10 miles south of LaFayette, GA and about 40 miles south of Chattanooga, TN) listed Clark as one of their oldest and most prominent families. Joe Clark lived on the Broomtown Road that used to be the main road leading to Alabama. Right across the state line in Alabama is a city named Bridgeport, AL. Bridgeport has several families still living in the area named Coffman. It would seem one of these two areas might serve as a link.

    1. [GAWALKER] John R. BRYAN 1850 census
    2. Carole Johnson
    3. Dear List, Sorry, I missed the Roll Call. The line I am researching: John R. BRYAN listed in 1850 WALKER county census as age 38 born TN wife: Louisa age 36 born NC children: Nathan A. age 15 born TN George W. age 13 born TN Mary E. age 11 born TN Martha L. age 9 born GA Hester A age 7 born GA John W. age 6 born GA Eliza A age 2 born GA Margaret age 1/12 born GA Matthew J W Floyd relationship unk. age 25 born GA Louisa Anderson relationship unk. age 8 born GA There was a John R. Bryan in the Company K of GA INF 9 who died of Remittent Fever in General Hospital of Charlottesville, VA September 11, 1861. This John R. BRYAN joined the CSA in Sumter County, GA in July 1861. There is also a John R. BRYANT married to Louisa in the 1880 Catoosa GA census with a daughter Eliza and additional children born after 1850. Which is John R. BRYAN is connected to the above children? I have not located any yet from the 1860 or 1870 GA census (except for John Wade BRYAN) The child from above we are descended from (actually, my husband's line) is John Wade BRYAN who married Nancy Lucinda FARLEY in Schely County GA in 1866. I have also located a Nathan A. BRYAN and George BRYAN in the Alabama 1880 census that I think are the above 1850 children. Anybody have any info on this line? THANKS, Carole
