Dear List Members, I just ran across an interesting Website, "Courthouse Experiences" http://www.bcpl.net/~dmg/courthouse.htm Not every county is listed, but the ones listed gave helpful information regarding the attitudes of those working in the courthouses. I might suggest that if you have had a positive or negative courthouse experience you add them to this site. I now know how to prepare myself for several courthouses I want to visit later this year. He had one of the first mills in the county and was alive in 1880. He drew land while living in Henry Co. and is listed there in the 1830 census. Here is my interest. Living next to him in 1830 was a William Morgan and his wife Rebecca, who moved to Dade Co. GA. While in Henry Co. the Morgans had a son which they named Ruel Morgan. This is such an unusual name I believe there might have been a family connection. Ruel Edwards named a daughter Rebecca. These are three coincidences that point to a family relationship. 1.) Morgans in Edwards were neighbors in Henry Co. in 1830 2.) William and Rebecca named a son Ruel, a very unusual name. (By the way, Morganville in Dade Co. was named for this Ruel Morgan 3.) Ruel Edwards named a daughter Rebecca. Any connections, guesses or advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul R. L. The Lee & Gordon Mill was where corn, wheat, etc., was ground into meal. It is located on the South Chickamauga Creek and was restored just a few years ago. I have never seen any type of directory for Walker County although the City of LaFayette might have had one.
