Teresa, I don't know remember the name of the hospital in Chattanooga (Hamilton Co) TN (it could have been Pine Breeze) but at one time there was a hospital that only housed T.B. patients. Go to www.lib.chattanooga.gov Hilight data base, then click on obituary. Follow the search from there. What was your grandmother's name and do you know the year she died? Anne, I have the book and also the index. It states that Mr. Sartain used almost two dozen different historical sources to help in his research. Email me off list because I think I can help you. I am looking for a copy of the Sartain book. Does anyone know where to get one? I would like to know where James Sartain got information. I need to know this because he states on page 45 that "Wm. Ramey" was an original settler of Cane Creek. Where did this information come from? I think this book was written in the 1920's. The records of Walker Co. had been burned by that time so, it couldn't be from land records. If there are early records, I would like to know where they are so I could look at them. I am not disputing Sartain's information. I would just like to prove that this William Ramey is the father of my Jeremiah Ramey. Does the book have any references or bibliography? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Anne

We have one library in Dade County and three in Walker, (LaFayette, Chickamauga, and Rossville). However, none of them are open on Sunday. They will be open on the Friday prior to the reunion. I don't remember the hours each are open but think Rossville and LaFayette's hours are 9a.m. to 5p.m. Dade's hours on Friday are 10a.m. to 5p.m. Don't know about Chickamauga but their genealogy collection is small. During the summer the Chattanooga Library is closed on Sunday. The Mill has some books they sell (I had Sartain's HISTORY OF WALKER COUNTY, 1932 from them at the reunion last year) and some more will be available but don't know what and how many at this time. Sandra, I remember seeing a Willis grave when I was at McFarland Cemetery the other day making pictures for Ruth Townly. Only I don't remember if the complete name was male or female. I was searching for the Hawkins graves which I think are in the very back in the still overgrown area. Lots of poison ivy in there... Becky, Could you please look up George Willis in your information on the McFarland Cemetery? He was on the 1870 census, Walker Co, but after that I cannot find him. Also, he had two sons John Willis and George T. Willis. Thanks. Seeking information about John Franklin Lewis who was born ca 1847 in GA (per census records). John Franklin "Uncle Frank" appeared on the 1880 census of Dade County living in the Cloverdale area. We have been unable to locate him in 1870, 60, or 50 censuse3s. He died in Dade County in 1931... no information regarding his parents is on his death certificate. Seeking information of parents and siblings. John married four times... his first marriage was ca 1869/70 to Sarah A. Black (believed to be dau of Burket Black). They were supposed to have been married in Dade County, however, no marriage has been found in Dade or surrounding counties. Neither are they on the Dade County 1870 census. John and Sarah were the parents of several children including: 1. Paralee Savannah who married George W. Bible (both lived and died in Dade County) 2. Andrew Sidney, md Elizabeth Johnson in Dade County. This family moved to Walker County where they lived for many years and have descendants still there. Andrew and Elizabeth died in Chattooga County. 3. Basil, lived for many years in Walker County then moved to Chattooga County. 4. Louisa (or Lou Ella), md into the Hartline family. 5. Lucy, md into the Hartline family. 6. Jenny, never md, died in Walker County in 1968. 7. Mary, first md George W. Roberts (1900) then James P. Brown. Two sons by G.W. Roberts, Grady and Fred. Need information regarding them. No known children by James P. Brown. 8. Leila... what happened to her? 9. Arthur... what happened to him? Sarah must have died ca 1890/91 as John married Rachel Cornish in 1892, Dade County. As far as we know there were no children of this union. Wife number three was Annie Kennimore, marriage year 1897. As far as we know there were no children of this union. Wife four was a widow(?) Mrs. Mary "Mollie" Mitchell in 1907. Mary survived him. No known children of this union. If anyone can help with this family, please let me know. Would also like to have information on Burket Black. Thank you. Sue Forrester Dade County

Ramona, ditto what Linda Sue said. Linda Sue, I thought (and hope others are reading this) that if a few people brought their "3 in 1" printer and charge anyone making copies about 10c per page that would help. What do you think??
