I know that my Wallin string in Walker County GA where Methodist. My Grandmother told me that her mother was of Baptist faith as had been all the Parrish for some time but her father Julius Wallin was raised Methodist and his father also. I wish someone who know more about this faith could give us some insight. Due to Thomas Wallin being born in Mass. I know that he was a Puritan as no other religion was allowed in New England during that time. Was this why our Thomas left MA. and went to Rhode Island and New Jersey? I have been researching lately about one Nehemiah Abbot who was a grandson to our Daniel Abbot and his being accused of being a witch during the Salem Witch Trials. Did our Wallins and other families leave the area and become part of a group that started the Methodist faith? Or was it already started and they went to join it. One thing is for sure they left because the Puritan laws where unbearable. More later on Nehemiah Abbott Linda Sue --part1_117.1ad8b9.2854ecb2_boundary--

Finally about 6 months after posting on a web site I got an email from Charlotte in Rossville that read, I think my grandfather was your great grandfathers brother. Away we went searching and finally came up with documentation to prove it. we finally discovered that Carl was buried in the same cemetery as his brother. All the information on the stone was correct, the info in the office was wrong (date of death, name spelled wrong etc). We have since had them correct it. we live in the upper peninsula of Michigan and last summer took our vacation to North Georgia where we met with Charlotte's side of the Gilreath family tree and were able to connect into previous research of the main Gilreath tree. That one piece of erroneous information kept us off the main tree. we toured the cemetery (beautiful place) and took photo's of the old stones. To make a long story short, don't give up and if you find errors, work to have them corrected. our roots in Walker county and Chattooga county are now established and it was fun to tour the area last summer. That cemetery is not in the Walker County books because it is so big. You can call the park & I believe they will give you information. That's where my mom is buried, along with half of my late relatives. Sheila Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park 724 Hogan Road, Rossville, GA 30741 (706) 866-5533
You might see if there are links through the Catoosa County Site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gacatoos/ BTW I am the new County Coordinator for the Walker County Web Page which is slowly but surely coming back to life at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawalker/ The old Geocities site had been untended for somewhere between a year and a half and two years. Right now the majority of the external links are backup and about 1/2 of the probate docket, all of the currently existing Cemeteries list, most of the Civil War Unit information, The civil war pension indices. Next up after the probate dockets will be the census information and the marriages information which are quite complete for a window from around 1882 or 1883 up until about 1920. So you might want to check it out too if you haven't been there in awhile. I have already received some new cemetery information from SKS which will go up just as soon as I finish with what already existed on these pages. Hi, I am Bill Clody, the Walker County Georgia , GaGenWeb County Coordinator. I have been busily rebuilding the site that once existed on Geocities on the rootsweb site. Part of that effort involves repairing external links that have gone dead in the approximately 2 years in which the site has been unmaintained. The one that has me stumped at the moment is the link that was there to Native American Resources. It was at http://www.rootsweb.com/~gagenweb/na/native_am.htm and if you go to that page it refers you to http://www.gnat.net/~htmlsd/na/ which returns a page not found. Does anyone have a new link for these pages or did it just gallop off into the sunset.
