CROWE/CROW,COULTER,WHEELER,EZELL,NUCKELS or NICHOLS and other families married into this Family. Have lots of info to share and pictures. Michelle Moreland Orlando Will be there in spirit.

    2. From Chattanooga... probably the quickiest way would be... if you're traveling east on I-24 then south on I-75. Take the first exit off I-75 (Cloud Springs Rd) AFTER passing the East Ridge exit. Turn right onto Cloud Springs Rd and continue until you come to Hwy 27. Turn left onto Hwy 27 and follow all the way through toward LaFayette until you pass the Rock Springs area. Watch for the Walker County Civic Center on the left side (east side of the road). It isn't far from Snow Nursery and Northwestern Tech. FROM ATLANTA area: Travel I-75 north. Take the Chickamauga Battle Field, Hwy 2, exit. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Battlefield Parkway. Stay on Battlefield Parkway until you come to Hwy 27 South. Either follow the Hwy 27 South signs toward LaFayette or go through Chickamauga Park toward LaFayette. Go through Rock Spring and watch for the Civic Center on the left of Hwy 27. If anyone is traveling Hwy 136 (which runs east/west) take Hwy 27 north when it intersects in LaFayette. Hwy 136 and Hwy 27 run together to the north side of LaFayette (there is a large Wal-Mart; Texaco; Krytal at the intersection where the two split. Stay Hwy 27 north toward Chattanooga (Fort Oglethorpe). The Civic Center will be a few miles north of this intersection on the right side of the road. The Civil Center is a large red brick complex that sits well off Highway 27. There is a sign at the road. On the north side of the Civil Center is the Walker County 911 complex. It too is a large red brick structure that sits back off the road. Just this evening, I have receive over 100 requests for me to change e-mail address to a Comcast address. You will receive an e-mail from which you can unsubscribe. If you can't do this, then you will just need to re-subscribe with your new address and let the old one bounce off. To re-subscribe this go to John Fuller's mailing list site http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html or remember you can subscribe and or unsubscribe by sending only the word UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE to XXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM if you are on the Digest List. Naturally change the XXXXXX to the name of the list. If all else fails, contact me, but be understanding if it takes me a while to get to you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. I will say this and probably wish I had of kept my mouth shut - public records cannot be copyright! They can be put in a format that can be copyright, but the work has to be original and the information, that is public, is not copyright, only the format. All those records that have your family information is your information, considered public domain, somebody puts it in a book, they copyright the book, the information is still yours. I wish somebody would claim some of my ancestors but unfortunately they can't and I am stuck with them, so put whatever you want, whereever you want it, its still mine, and I am free to do whatever I want with it - no public information is or can be an original work of the author. 3. I too was speaking of Genealogy Records. The specific department I was speaking of in the Library was the genealogy department that can allow up to 10 pages copied at a time. Having done many years of research on my families myself, I can well understand someone not wanting their work copied but personally I will freely give any of the information I have to any family member researching the same line as my purpose is to make available our family history to any descendants so that they may know where they came from. Although my purpose is not monetary I do resent anyone using my information to make money. Barring any personal family stories included in genealogy, most information from family trees are a matter of public record which many people of the same lines have done the same research and compilation on and therefore can not be construed as original works of authorship. You are completely accurate on many points but one would be wasting money and time trying to prove public records are copy righted in a court of law unless it was copied ver batum. However, I'm definitely no attorney but have spoken to many who are friends and they say it would be hard to find one to take a case on like this. The copy right laws were made for good reason and people have a right to protect their work. However, after 50 years, it seems to me that it's ridiculous not to be able to copy pictures. I've had copies made for each of the 10 immediate members of my family of over 100 pictures thus far without any problems. Some were originally made in studios but dated from the 50's back. Usually it's cheaper to go to a reputable studio who will only charge about 6.00 for making a negative and 50 to 75 cents for each print, depending on the size you want. Better than Wal-Mart when making several copies! When in doubt, it's always best to consult an attorney if concerned about any copy right laws. This question seems to come up frequently on every e-list I'm on and in the end every one seems just as confused as when it started. Best of luck to everyone in their research! Carolyn
