I wish I knew more about how the early Moores of Upson Co. are related. There are quite a few deed records dating to the beginning of the County with Moores involved. So they were among the "pioneer" families. These deed records are available for research at the Thomaston-Upson Archives inThomaston, GA. I did find your ancestors in the 1930 Early History of Upson Co., GA. It is still bein reprinted by the Upson Co. Historical Society. On page 670, a C. Nealy is listed in Co. B, 2nd Georgia Battalion of Sharp-Shooters as a Private. Also mentioned is that this unit was organized in the Spring of 1862. Then on page 594, a Lucinda Moore is listed in an 1850 Moore household, listing oldest son as head--Jordan Moore as head. Apparently, his mother Avarilla Moore 50, is widowed and living with her children. Included in this 1850 census are Jordan Moore 31, Avarilla 50, Mary 23, Alfred 19, Lucinda 15, Bethena 14, and Avarilla 12. Next door to this family are! Simeon Moore 25 Farmer N.C. and Lucinda C. 23. Not far away are the households of Isham Moore 34, and family, and next door James Neely 20 and Martha 19. Write to me directly and we'll stay in touch.
