    3. MRS. LEONARD PASSES AWAY [Oct 25, 1906] Mother of Mrs. W.C. Hightower of This City Succumbs After An Illness of Only a Few Days The death of Mrs. Martha Leonard, wife of Hon. Roderick Leonard of Talbotton, and mother of Mrs. W.C. Hightower of this city, at her home in Talbotton, Friday is greatly regretted by a large number here. Mrs. Leonard had been in feeble health for some time and in the summer she had a severe illness from which she had never entirely recovered although she was out of bed, and spent a few weeks here in July with Mrs. Hightower. Mrs. Leonard was fifty-seven years of age. She was a woman of the finest type, cultured, refined, a devoted mother, and loved by everyone. Her home was the rendezvous for the young people. A cordial welcome awaited everyone who entered her threshold. Above all things she was a Christian mother, ever ready to comfort the weak, and lend a helping hand to any one in trouble. Her kindness and sympathetic heart will be greatly missed by the people of her community where she is so much loved. The funeral services were held in Talbotton at the Leonard home on Friday afternoon. The deceased was survived by her husband, and three children. Mrs. W.C. Hightower of this city, Mrs. William Wooten of Buenavista and Dr. W. P. Leonard of Talbotton. To the bereaved family The Times extends deepest Sympathy.
