    3. This is based on the 1825 Tax List for Upson County. This is the oldest section settled in Upson County...most settlement was along the waterways of Tobler Creek, Flint River, or Potato Creek. 1825 - Tax List 16th District James Sockwell 4 lots fronting on Flint River Note: 1834, May, James Sockwell granted Ferry on Flint River This was operated from LL148 and was sold in 1830 to Irwin Austin Martin two lots Note: Believe he is connected to the family that donated the land for Martin's Chapel Methodist church and the Cemetery =============== Gordon, Z.H. 3 lots on Flint River 1 lot about 2 miles north, probably where Good Hope Church, Academy, Cemetery Pulham, Nelson Close to where Harmony Academy was on road from Thomaston to River Inman Stephens lot between branches of Potato Creek John Parker on Tobler Creek across from James Fincher James Fincher On Tobler Creek across from John Parker I plan to look again at this Tax microfilm, as I believe there are others within this same District.
