UNKNOWN CONFEDERATE DEAD From the Thomaston Courthouse, take HWY. 74 East, also known as Yatesville Hwy. Go 6.3 Miles & turn left on The Rock Road, then 2.4 Miles. This Cemetery sits beside the Road with a Memorial Marker and an American Flag. The Memorial Marker states " UNKNOWN CONFEDERATE DEAD" Here lies 12 Confederate Soldiers "known but to God," Who died of disease and wounds 1864-1865. Near the Road side is one Marked Tombstone PVT. Thomas J. Penn 1828- Sept. 1, 1864 On top of the hill stands 12 markers in a row of unknown of men who died for this Country. The American Flag is displayed on a pole as a reminder.
