I think it really relates to the era and to the mindset of the the people of the times. No one today would even think of printing a gruesome story of how someone died. I guess, back then, in a small town no less, it would have been gossip and "common knowledge" so they printed it to get the facts straight! Seeing the individual posts also reminds me to volunteer. I appreciate the volunteer effort that those on this list take. Without that, I'd be no where, and without volunteerism in general, this board and genealogy in general would be a pain or nonexistent.
