    3. Let's see what our team can do to help out this person and make his trip to Thomaston more productive!! [email protected] I plan to visit Thomaston on Oct. 2-3 to try to find something on my great grandfather, Andrew Jackson Fletcher. I find him in the 1840 census when he was 8 years old, but living with a family with a different name. Had his parents died? Are there any records beyond the census? These are my questions. I know that things go better when I go to the court house and historical archives with someone who knows what she or he is doing and knows the history of the county. I am glad to pay a fee for a geneologist's time. Can you refer me to the right person? I know that AJF went over near Troy, AL and married a woman named Susanna Sessions when he was about 18 years old. I appreciate any help that you can give me. Virginia Crilley

    3. Hi, This question about Andrew Jackson Fletcher is interesting to me because a group of families moved from Upson Co. & Crawford Co., GA to Pike Co., AL around 1857.(The county seat of Pike Co., AL is Troy.) The surnames of the families who moved to Pike Co., AL included Carter, Dorough, Kendrick, Miller, Wilson. I knew there were probably others; now I can add the names Fletcher and Allen. If any one knows of other families who made that move, I'd be glad to know about them. If you know the reason for the move (cheap land???), I would also like to hear. Thanks.
