Who were Leola's parents/sibings and grandparents? I am also attempting to link up with Elizabeth McDaniel, b. 1812 GA, and who married Duncan McEachern, b. 1803, NC, in Pike Co., GA, on 3 Mar 1833. Elizabeth's sister, Susan McDaniel, b. 1805, GA, remained with Duncan and Eliza until at least 1880 as is evidenced by the Fed Cenus for that year in Erath Co., TX.. Duncan was in Pike County before 1827;and in Monroe County, GA, for the 1850 Fed Census. Duncan was likely brother to Archibald McEachern, b. 1808, NC, and who appeared in the 1850 Census for Pike Co., GA. Archibald's son, Neil (James N) married Permelia Jane Reynolds in Upson Co., GA, on 2 Sep 1856. Archibald (wf Mary Monroe), Duncan, Neil and Permelia, and their son James H., b. 1859, were all in Calhoun County, AL, for the 1860 Census. Neil apparently died during the war between the States. Widow Permelia and son were recorded as being in Calhoun for the 1866 AL State Census. Duncan and family were gone by then--apparently to Texas--as was suggested in Permelia's wartime letter. She referred to an "Uncle Duncan" in this connection and as "how much she enjoyed tenting with Uncle Duncan's family". Still trying to determine my Great Great Uncle Neil McEachern's military affiliation and date/place(VA?) of death. I'll appreciate any clues to explore. Details for Neil's parents available.
