Upson County, Georgia, Deed Book D pp. 408-409 Georgia } Upson County This Indenture made this the twenteeth } day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty Eight between William G. English of the one part and Benjamin Adams of the other part both of the county and State aforesaid, witnesseth that the Said William G. English for and in consideration of the Sum of twelve hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the Sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained Sold & conveyed & does by these presents grant bargain Sell & convey unto the Said Benjamin Adams his heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the (16) Sixteenth district of orginally Houston when Surveyed, but now Upson County, Lot number one hundred & Sixty nine containing two hundred two & half acres be the Same more or less [with the exception of three fourths of an acre on the east side of Said lot whereon James W. Hicks house & yard, and also Seven or eight acres it being a part of lot one hundred & ninety four in Said distict lying on the west Side of little Potato Creek, the creek to be the line [be the same more or less - To have and to hold Said tract or parcel of land unto him the Said Benjamin Adams his heirs & assigns together with all and Singular the rights members, & appurtenance as thereof to the Same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit & behoof forever, in fee sinple - And the Said William G. English for himself his heirs, executors and administrators the Said bargained premises unto the Said Benjamin Adams, his heirs, and assigns will warrant and forever defend the rights and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons, whatsoever - In witness whereof the Said William G.
