Black Adjutant in Upson Guards (left Thomaston May 7, 1861, organized in Macon as aprt of the 5th Ga Reg vol...known as Co K, 5th GA. From our ON-line Co K. Brown, William H.-3d Sergeant May 11, 1861 . Elected Cap- tain of Co. 1, February 5, 1862 . Transferred to Co.=B, 2d Battn. Ga. Sharpshooters as Captain July 1862 . Resigned, disability, September 26, 1864 . **H is probably an error pg 563 Census 1850 Black, Thomas 47 Farmer Taitty 45 William T 18 Sidney T 16 Permelia 14 John T 11 Nathaniel 10 Cary 8 Emily 5 **This looks like he is part of the Thomas Black family that is in the Bio** The Bio say wife was named "Faithy"....and the handwritten census could easily have been transcribed as Taitty... pg420 TRICE Cemetery Black, William T Nov 17, 1831 - Dec 13, 1914 ** Doesn't fit with being killed in TN** pg271 Witnessed a will by Rutha Black dated Feb 12, 1857.
