Also listed as 2nd Lieu. in Upson Guards which left for war May 7, 1861 and organized as part of Co K 5th at macon May 11. 1850 Census, William O was 12 living in household of Wm H. and Matilda Sandwich. 1861 he was Secretary of the Thomaston Brass Band. this band was present when most of the Upson Co companies left for the War.
