My aunt married a George Moore from Chambers county, ala. and he said that he had a distant relative who was related to My GGM Lucinda Moore Neely and he is the one who said he thought she may have had a brother. They were old when I was a child. My mother was born in 1899 and she was 40 when I was born. So, yes, probably are cousins. My GGM Lucinda had a daughter named Josephine Neely, when the Yankees came an old servant helped them escape across the Coosa River into I believe Alabama, Mr. Neely was dead by then from the war. In 1867 she married a Jeff Kellum and had William Kellum. She was a very educated woman and jeff kellum ran away and left her, fleeing to texas, she earned her money as a school teacher. So yes, we may be related somehow. By the way, did you go to high school in Atlanta. Your name sure sounds familiar. Take care. Kathy

I wish I knew more about how the early Moores of Upson Co. are related. There are quite a few deed records dating to the beginning of the County with Moores involved. So they were among the "pioneer" families. These deed records are available for research at the Thomaston-Upson Archives inThomaston, GA. I did find your ancestors in the 1930 Early History of Upson Co., GA. It is still bein reprinted by the Upson Co. Historical Society. On page 670, a C. Nealy is listed in Co. B, 2nd Georgia Battalion of Sharp-Shooters as a Private. Also mentioned is that this unit was organized in the Spring of 1862. Then on page 594, a Lucinda Moore is listed in an 1850 Moore household, listing oldest son as head--Jordan Moore as head. Apparently, his mother Avarilla Moore 50, is widowed and living with her children. Included in this 1850 census are Jordan Moore 31, Avarilla 50, Mary 23, Alfred 19, Lucinda 15, Bethena 14, and Avarilla 12. Next door to this family are! Simeon Moore 25 Farmer N.C. and Lucinda C. 23. Not far away are the households of Isham Moore 34, and family, and next door James Neely 20 and Martha 19. Write to me directly and we'll stay in touch. 3. I had this note regarding the newspaper that Linda Murray submitted yesterday...and thought someone might have something else in their records. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/cobb/newspapers/nw921confeder.txt Keenesaw Mt dead Since the newspaper listed him, it would seem that he was reburied. Is anyone able to double check for Meredith on this name and burial at Kennesaw? Correction: NOTE: Meredith Clapper <meredith_clapper@hotmail.com> I tried at Kennesaw a few years back to track down Capt. Hardeman Owen Collier's burial site. He's not over in Marietta with all the other Confederate dead --or if so, he's not listed. We finally decided that he must be buried where he fell just north of the Dallas Hwy near site of Old Shiloh church. But according to this, he might have been moved after all. He's listed here as Co. B, 40th GA but that is wrong. He was in Co. A, 46th regiment. Note: we do have this roster on-line http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/upson/military/civilwar/a-46.txt

    3. thanks Dale from Ar-sharp list-this was to long to include in my one email of links so am forwarding for others to use. Thank all of you for coming to my rescue :) Janice Here's the site with all the Texas records: http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/Texas/ Kind of funny RootsWeb yanked them, but they're still on a RootsWeb site. Yes, it says cemetery records, but when you enter the county (or "all counties") you can enter the surname(s) plus any other keywords such as first name(s), year, "births," "deaths," "marriages," "divorces," "obits," or "cemetery." Here are some sites I like to explore when filling in dates, etc. on the more contemporary generations in my tree or when just being nosy! All of these will provide more detailed information for a fee (usually a hefty fee), but the searches are free and can provide a wealth of information. Often you have to combine the information from two or three different ones to get all the puzzle pieces, but it doesn't take long to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each. This information comes from public records and includes data on deceased individuals, too. 1. USSearch http://www.ussearch.com Often includes middle names and women's maiden names. Don't worry about knowing the right age for the person(s) on this one. Put in anything over 20 and it'll be happy. 2. InteliUS http://find.intelius.com What I really like about this one is that the search results often group everyone in the same household together (if the Mrs. and adult children have done anything to generate a public record). Check out the advanced search option, and if you're nosing around in Kentucky or Texas, they have marriage and divorce records for those states, too. 3. KnowX http://www.knowx.com This one includes marriage and divorce records for Florida, Nevada, Texas, and the SSDI (although RootsWeb's version is better). 4. PeopleData http://www.people-data.com Results list often gives month and year of birth, not just age. 5. Public Record Finder http://www.publicrecordfinder.com More state-level databases. You can get a free guest pass to search many databases including the CA birth index. Unless you pay for a "Premium Membership" you can't search by first name which is okay unless you're looking for a record for someone with a common last name. You'll still get all the results, but you have to go through the whole result list from A to Z. 6. Search Systems http://www.searchsystems.net Similar to #5. Find out if your doctor has been disciplined by the medical board! 7. AnyBirthday.com http://anybirthday.com Birthdates only. Type in a full or partial first name and last name. Narrow it down with a full or partial zip code if desired. (Use with #8 if needed.) 8. USPS Zip Code Finder http://www.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.htm Look up zip code for any location. Also has reverse locator which is useful with #7. 9. Area Code Maps http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/area_code_maps.html Good detailed area code maps for every state. Even shows the ones about to be added. 10. MapQuest http://www.mapquest.com Good street level maps with actual satellite shots. See what your house looks like from orbit!

Inman and Susannag are listed on the 1850 Upson County,ga. census, along with their children, and Priscilla, shown as age 75. Piscilla is shown as a recipient on three Ga land lotteries: 1821 Jones County, with children shown as orphans. 1827 drew land in Coweta County(husband abs) ,LL 242,sec 5 1835 drewland in Upson as a widow,District 14,Sec l. Priscilla must have been an eligible widow in all three lotteries, probably as a widow of a Rev War Vet.
