I am searching for the burial site of a Civil War Veteran, Robert M. Ford. Born 8/15/1841, enlisted: Co. K, 5th Ga. for 4 years. Was discharged: Greensboro, NC. May 1865. Died 4/05/1908, Thomaston Ga. I have visited Thomaston twice and have been unable to find the burial site for this Veteran. Information states he was living in an Old Soldiers Home, which I have also been unable to find. He was married to a Sarah Ann Barrow, (died before he did) which I have not been able to find a burial site for. I would appreciate any help or information one may wish to share. W. Bain Proctor of Griffin died June 5, 2002, at Piedmont Hospital. He is survived by his wife Carole W. Proctor; two sons and daughter-in-law, Walter Proctor and Daniel (and Cathy) Proctor; one daughter, Heather Proctor; his mother-in-law, Martha D. Wilder of Thomaston; an aunt, Lila Proctor, also of Thomaston. Several cousins also survive. He is the son of the late Walter Proctor and Pauline Gilbert Proctor of Thomaston. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home Highway 92 West in Griffin, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. The funeral will be Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

My gggrandmother, Susan Emma Gordy, had a brother named Ben. Their parents were: Elijah H. Gordy and Caroline Margaret(Baker) Gordy. I also recognized the name Sallie as a sister to these two. None of the other names were familiar, nor have I ever heard anyone mention any of them. There is another Gordy cousin, Melinda Gordy Corporon in OK., I have been corresponding with her trying to tie some of these names together. She has a copy of the will of John Gordy, 1801. She also has a Thomas John Gordy, not listed in the will, but is a documented child as is Polly. If you are interested, let me know and I will give you her e-mail address. Correct here. the Braswell surname was spelled in any ways, usually depending on the literacy level of the family, the way it was pronounced, and many other reasons. Brazil and Brazzell are just two of many variant spellings. The names previously posted dare not familiar to me, but I will be happy to share information I have available about the Braswell Clan and share links as well. It appears that all Braswells in America descended from the same Immigrant Ancestor who came from England to the Isle of Wight , VA. I need all of you to help me with some INFORMATION about the census that is already on-line (at some of the pay sites).....and also with CDs that you might own....or microfilm that you may have available. I'm not asking you to transcribe a Census (although that would be nice!)... If you have access to Ancestry (or any other pay site) ....or CDs....this is what we need: 1) Source ie (Ancestry, Quest, S-K) 2) listing of the P.O. (at the top of the Page) and the # of the district 3) the pages this district covers 4) the numbering method that is being used (Ancestry uses one method...CD use another, and every census has a handwritten and a stamped number) This will enable people to see the vicinity, and know what pages they would need to go through on that specific image group.
