I am researching my husband's Saxons/Saxtons/Sextons in Union County, GA. I have found them in the 1860 Choastoah census. Father was Adam (Allen) S. Saxton, wife Elvira, William (Billy Jay) Elijah Sr. age 6. I am trying to prove how William Elijah died c. 1891. He died in either White county or Lumpkin County. Folklore has it that he was a moonshine runner and was being chased by the sheriff. "Billy Jay" was in a horse and buggy or wagon and overturned in an accident and died at the scene.
