why do you say she was too old to have children at age 45? the boys were born prior to her marraige to your ancestor, probably were his by a previous marriage, or they could be hers, adopted by him. the kids would have been born shen she was 38 and 40, not really too old to have kids. my grandmother had her last about age 40-42. She had 8 kids, married in her early twenties and they were all spaced at least 2 years part. One of my aunts had no children, couldn't they said, and then got pregnant in her mid 40's. It happens sometimes to women who thought they were menopausal too. Maybe a last burst of hormones. Anyway, I wanted to comment to be cautious about assumptions. Averages are fine, but when it comes to genealogy I've seen some weird things.
