Hello Fellow Rooters and CCs: Union Co., GAGenWeb now has a search engine so you can search the entire website in just one click!!! Hope this helps....as our website has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years thanks to our many volunteers. This search engine will: 1. search only what is keyed into the box...so you will need to do separate searches for the various spellings of your surname until I can build the 'similar words' page at the search engine's website. 2. search only the pages that reside at our rootsweb website, i.e. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaunion/ so, you'll need to search our email list, archives, queries, and genconnect boards separately. It will not include some of the civil war rosters as they reside on other folks' websites. 3. automatically update only once a week; but I'll try to remember to re-index our search engine when I load a 'new' webpage... To my fellow CCs...as you know RootsWeb's search engine requests are on hold....so if you want a search engine for your county website, you'll need to find one elsewhere. Union Co. is using: http://mysearch.looksmart.com/ It's pretty easy to set up and doesn't take very long to do.... and this was my first stab at this kinda of stuff. I have also spoken with Pam Reid who maintains the county coordinator volunteer webpages at our USGenWeb site about adding a section on search engines to help all of CCs out there. She's working on it now....maybe it would be a good idea for the GAGenWeb Council to add something to the GA CC's guidelines...just a thought.. HAPPY HUNTING...
