Posted on: Union Co. GA Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Union/715 Surname: McCLURE, HOOPER, NELSON ------------------------- Elisha Hedden NELSON was a Baptist minister also and Justice of the Peace, who married many couples in the Cherokee NC area. He signed papers for another of my gggrandfather Elisha Francis Burgess that was also in the War. There was a W.K. Hedden, ordinary, Towns co.Ga. that signed "copy" of Marriage License papers for Elisha & Eliza Nelson Nov.3,1923. I am in the process now sorting out the many William McClures so that I can hopefully get Pension papers on this ggggrandfather. He would have been 40 in 1861, so I am pretty sure he would have had to participate in the "War of the Rebellion" in some way. William and Ellender's children were very young when they were in Union co. Ga., so if there are any surviving marriage license, it would probably be in that area. I live close to Washington D.C. and the Library of Congress so if anyone has names of books these families may be in , I could look it up there. I will check out the Kilpatricks at the DAR. Thanks, Sarah
