    3. The Dyer-Souther Heritage Association Reunion will be held at the North Georgia Technical College Conference Room in Blairsville, Georgia on Sunday, July 18, 2004. Registration begins at 11:00 a. m. Participants are asked to bring a covered dish meal to spread with the rest of the food for a grand feast at 1:00 p. m. Utensils and ice will be furnished. Bring food and tea or soft drinks--only enough for your family. We usually have so much food because people "over-do" in the amount of food to share. You are also asked to bring your family information such as family histories, old pictures, albums, and any stand-up displays for the "show and tell" at tables that will be set up for this purpose. Amy Sgro requests that you fill out a family information sheet to bring with you. She is entering information into computer for future reference and perhaps a reprint of Watson B. Dyer's 1986 Dyer Family History Book and his 1988 Souther Family History Book, both of which are out of print and sold out. She wants to update them. A registration fee of $7.50 per family will be charged to defray expenses of facility rent and other reunion costs. After the meal, a short program will recognize the oldest, youngest, those above 90, and those who traveled the farthest to the reunion. A memorial service will honor those kin who have passed since the last reunion. This reunion honors early settlers to the Choestoe District of Union County who settled there in the 1830's: John and Mary Combs Soutehr and Bluford Elisha, Jr. and Elizabeth Clark Dyer. Recent reunions have number well above 200, with the highest attendance being 264 in 2002. You are invited to attend if you have ties to any of the Dyers and Southers who migrated out of Wilkes County, NC and from Pendleton District, SC to upper Georgia in the 1830's.
