They moved to Union County from Yancey County, NC. They were in Cherokee County, NC in 1850 and in Union County in the following censuses. One census on this web site has them listed as Messiah and Missah? Thomas. HI Anne, I viewed the original census and made notes of Missiah and Messah. I think whoever gave the info., had an accent (obviously, this is the South) and the census taker took Mr. and Mrs. as names and wrote it down. Do you have any connection (that you know about) to an Elizabeth b abt 1827 NC ? She was listed as THOMPSON living with James LONG and Uly CANSLER (who came from Burke Co. NC to Union).
