JERRY TAYLOR: I did not get the date information from the Funeral Home. MARTHA CLEMENT was kind enough to look up that information from an "on-line" database (thru Ancestry.com) called "Social Security Death Index." That site indicated that Eldorado "Radie" Sylvania Nicholson was born on Oct. 10, 1910 and died in January, 1984 at the age of 73+. I live in Charlotte, NC and this week end I am going to Blairsville, GA for a family reunion of my mother's DEAVER line. While I am there I plan to go by Cochran Funeral Home and get all the information that they have on Sylvania Nicholson, specifically attempting to determine if she had any relatives living in Union County that might have got Sylvania's old Bible with all the genealogy data in it. Hello Nicholson researchers! I would like to exchange information on the family of Alfred & Mary (Chastain) Nicholson's daughter Mary Nicholson (1825-1897) who married C. Allen Jones in 1853 in Union County. Had he been married previously???? Who were Mary's children? Thanks! Jerry Taylor
Hello, Jamie! What do you have on the family of Isham L. Jackson (1845-1871) who married Mary Nicholson, dau of John Nicholson (1820-1891) and Martha S. Teague (1821-1872)? Thanks! Jerry Taylor

Andrew Albert "Ab" Nicholson also had a brother Alfred Elias which might be that "Eliza" in the census. Hello, OUR RWS John Nicholson (1763-1858) was married to Susan(nah) Brown as his only wife. Some confusion resulted among family researchers when the DAR accepted Nancy Freeman as his wife based on a marriage record in Bute or Warren County, NC. Our John Nicholson had been long gone from the area when the marriage occurred. That was a different John Nicholson. Yes, I see why you are confused, it wasn't written well. Arneson Nicholson (Arneson - first name) was Sarah's father. It could have said Nickerson. But I thought it was Nicholson.
I found my info in the Jackson files on Randy Sullivan Nicholson. Charlie Wimpey had listed children of Randy and Ab as: sons Teddy, Jarvis, and Lazarus and daughter Redie. No dates or additional information on them. -- Jamie Crump jamie.crump@att.net -------------- Original message from Martha & Gerald Clement : -------------- > This gets more and more interesting, folks! Was Arneson the first name or last name? I'm a bit confused on what you wrote "My gr gr grandmother was Sarah Nicholson daughter of Arneson and Nicholson." I don't know if this fits in anywhere, but I have had a brick wall with a Nicholson. My gr gr grandmother was Sarah Nicholson daughter of Arneson and Nicholson. Sarah "Sally" married a Smith (born about 1800)and had several children...I think about 7. She later married a Lingerfelt and lived in Cherokee NC around Hanging Dog. She lived to be 121 years old and died in Polk Co TN while living with her grandson FRank Smith. She had a daughter Margaret who was a midwife. She had another daughter (Catherine I think). This daughter is the mother of my gr grandmother Sarah Charlsie Taylor who married Alford Levi Graham and lived in Tellico Plains TN. I have never seen Arneson in a census record or been able to find out anymore about him. His name was on her death certificate in Polk Co TN.

JERRY TAYLOR: Thanks for the information you show below. It helps me tie Sylvania in with Hannah Nicholson-Morgan. Her G-father, David Nicholson was a brother to Hannah Nicholson-Morgan. Hannah was the oldest child of Alfred & Mary Nicholson. Her G-father, David Nicholson was a twin to his sister, Delila, both born Oct. 24, 1833. You said Sylvania's father was named Andrew and her mother was named "Randy". The 1930 census shows his name as "Ab" but this is probably a "nickname" or it could have been a shortened form of "Abner" which might have been his middle name. The 1930 census does show his wife as "Randy." The 1930 does not show a sibling named "Canister," probably because that sibling might have died young. You have helped me a great deal and now I will add this information to my genealogy data base. This morning I called MR. RAY POTTS of Cochran Funeral Home and asked him why Sylvania did not have a marker at her grave site in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery and he said it was because there was not enough money in the estate to buy one--in fact not enough money was available to pay for the funeral. He said he went up to the cemetery the other day after I first called him and he could not even find a funeral home marker at the grave site. However, she has been buried for 20 years so that is not surprising. Thanks again. Connie, I would also appreciate a copy to update my records. Peter Flowers/Mary Seabolt are my 4th G-grandparents and Andrew Flowers/Sarah Seabolt are my 4th G-grandparents in a different line. LINDA: Thanks for the "tip" about the "informant" who might be the next of kin of SYLVANIA ELDORADO NICHOLSON. She may have had some nieces and nephews living around there because she had three brothers: Theodore "Ted" b 1912 or 1913; Jarvis (Jarius?) b.1917 or 1918; and Ned b.1922 or 1923. They were all younger than she was. Mr. RAY POTTS of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, GA said they handled her funeral in 1984 and he was the administrator of her estate. She rented her home in the edge of the Coosa District in Union County and she had very little possessions. They had to sell her possession to pay for the funeral and they got only about $2,000 total. He said she was buried in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, but I could find no marker for her in that cemetery. I must call Mr. POTTS back and find out why there is no marker. Possibly because there was not enough money realized from her estate to pay for one. I did find out from him that she was called "Radie," and that she was never married. Thanks for your interest. I am giving a copy of this e-mail to some people who live in Union County so that they will be aware that we are trying to find her kinfolk because one of them might have her old Bible that has some very important genealogy information in it. If they know any of her kinfolk, we would appreciate hearing from them. She is living with a man named Teddy Hardin. Based on what you have said in your e-mail below, you are first cousin-once-removed of Nancy. Nancy's grandmother was Vandora Seabolt who was a twin to your mother Victoria. You are a descendant of Solomon Seabolt who supposedly was born in Lincoln County, NC and moved to Georgia in the 1800s. My wife is also his descendant. I have a great deal of information on his descendants. Send me an e-mail and give me information on yourself and on your father and your brothers and sisters.
