The Talton Woody I have was born 1758 in Surrey Co.N.C. Died 12/07/1828 in Ashe Co. N.C. And I may be wrong but I have Willliam Woody and Sarah Percel as his parents and wife is Elizabeth Loggins. I have one son listed as James Woodie born about 1788. I do have another Talton that was the son of William and Elizabeth Lovell but no spouse is listed at this time, I am still keying in information, so if I come across anything else I will let you know... I have had such great luck with these lists. In case anyone is interested, there is a Thomas family reunion July 15th at the Aaron The Elder Thomas property on the Toe River Campground in Yancey County, N.C. There are lots of Woody's and Caldwell connections in this family and it will be a great get away. Thanks Carolyn for the Thomas list information. I have all that line now and we are sooooo excited about finally finding the correct information. There is one thing of confusion though, and I will post this also to the Lumpkin list. Thomas C. Thomas line. I always thought we had the right information that he was the brother of Joseph Monroe Thomas but apparently not. There is a Thomas Callaway Thomas who married Jemina Whisenant. They had four children, one of whom a daughter married Nathaniel Wilkins. But on this new information Thomas C. Thomas (not sure middle name is Callaway now) is listed as an uncle. Thomas Callaway Thomas left Jemina with another woman is the legend and had another dozen or so children and supposedly went west. Anyone out there who can clear up my confusion on this... According to information in my files, Isaac Nicholson (born 1776 in Virginia) and Rebecca Penry (born 1787 in Virginia) lived a few years in South Carolina after their marriage but spent the remainder of their days in Tennessee and Georgia. Hi-- Since you work at the Family History Center, I wanted to ask-- What are the terms of rentals on microfilms? I had heard that once you rent them from Utah, they can remain at your local LDS center, but I didn't know for how long. Can you tell me the average rental fee & how long the microfilm can remain at the local center before it has to be returned? --dkp ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy L Taylor" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 29, 2000 11:52 AM Subject: Re: [GAUNION] WILLIAM WHITE Family | The Family History Center in Salt Lake has microfilmed many marriage | records in Union County, GA from 1833-1933. Thanks Betty, I spent a whole day looking through all the spellings. It amazes me how names get changed from one census to the next. I did find that David is Joseph's father, they were living together on the 1850 census and right next door was Meredith - so because of birth years I am assuming that Joseph and Meredith are brothers. I should be happy with that much - but like a true addict once you find a piece you want more. Soooo looking for David's history and his wife Sarah's maiden name and if there are more children besides Joseph and David. The Colwell name has a big write up in the Heritage of Lumpkin County, Georgia book 1832-1996. But these Caldwells appear to be pretty consistent. The films remain in the library for up to 6 weeks. It depends on the shipping date how long. Salt Lake has started to charge us from the shipping date so that is the date we us to return the film by. The film is $3.50 to order. You can put it on an extension for 8 weeks for $3.25 and if you need it longer, $3.25 will put it on permanent loan at our libray. Each library may have a slight variation of the above but it should be about the same. Salt Lake charges the libraries $3.25 for each film and extension. We charge 25 cents for the postcard to mail to the patron when their film comes in. Kathy ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! CAT, Does not seem to link to my CHARLES FAIR family from Union County who did not settle there until after the Civil War when he married SARAH WHITE. Charles Father, ARCHIBALD FAIR B: abt 1812) came out of Burke County, NC, migrated to Cherokee County and thence to Monroe County, TN after 1860 and before 1870. Although their birth years are close, your info says TOLIVAR was born in GA so he is not likely from my line. Thanks for caring. Posted on: Union Co. GA Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Union?read=572 Surname: FAIR, WHITE ------------------------- That's the right people. The info tracks exactly with mine as to their burial site, dates of death and birth. I have a picture of William and Tabitha with their son, Lee Albert Fair, taken at an advanced age. I have an earlier picture that is unidentified but whom I believe to be William and Tabitha. It has a striking resemblance to the older one. My records show their children who lived to older age to be Lee Albert, Minnie, Beulah and Bonnie. There is some question as to whether William's middle initial was and "A." or a "P." The Census reflects an "A." which might stand for his GF, Archibald; however his gravestone reflects a "P." They had 2 children die early and are buried at Bearpaw--Fred A. Fair and Jessie B. Fair. Jessie's tombstone reflects "Dau of W.A. and S.T. Fair." My suspicion is that the correct initial is "A." Can you add anything from that Bible record?? Will be happy to share any info I have and learn more about what you have. You can reach me directly at [email protected]

Leslie, I have had luck searching with different variations of spelling for some of my surnames. Did you search for spelling variations of Caldwell/Colwell. Could be more but I noticed in the 1850 Union Census there is a CALDWELL, Thomas 59 NC #57 and the 1880 census is COLWELL, Thomas, 90, NC, 207, GL. Probably the same person because the age fits. Lucky me, I'm searching my Smith line. It would be a great help if anyone knows the parents of Bennett Smith, who first shows up with his wife Lincy in the 1850 Union County census at the age of 24, and a birthplace of NC. ALSO, I would like to know Lincy's maiden name. The census has her first name as Lincy, Lina, Linda and Lorina for different years, with a birthplace of GA. Thanks! Leslie Martin

Dear Leslie, I am Kathy Thomas McBride, and I am of the William Jasper Thomas branch of your family who was the son of Joseph "Jose" G. Thomas that married Nancy Robertson. I have a great deal of information on our family. It appears that you have a lot of information also. If you would like to swap GEDCOM files, please let me know. I am always very happy to meet new cousins in the many branches of our family. As a matter of fact, we are having the first Thomas Family Reunion to include all the ancestors of Aaron Thomas who settled on Rose's Branch of the South Toe River on Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the Toe River Campground near Celo and Bowditch, NC. It would be great if you could come to the reunion, as there will be many family genealogist there with pictures and family history and swapping information on their line of descendants. The Toe River Campground is actually located on the old Aaron Thomas property. There is a Thomas family cemetery located on this property, and just across the river and up the side of the mountain, there is another Thomas Cemetery that the land was donated for by my great grandfather, William Jasper Thomas. This is where he is buried. The directions are from Marion, NC:Directions to Toe River Campground And Thomas Reunion on Saturday, July 15, 2000. Take Hwy 226 out of Marion toward Spruce Pine. Turn left on hwy 19. Stay on 19 to turnoff for for Celo and Bowditch on Hwy 80. Follow signs to Toe River Campground. Hope you can make it, but I will try to understand if you can't. Sincerely, Kathy
