    1. [GAUNION] William "Elisha" Garrett b: N.C. 4/14/1840
    2. Gayle M. Garrett
    3. Happy New Year & Best Wishes To All: I have every reason to believe that William E. Garrett was my great great grandfather, but I need better documentation than I have. My great Grandfather, Benjamin F Garrett listed on his death certificate as born Oct. 19, 1870 in Springtown, Arkansas, Benton County. It also list his parents as Elisha Garrett & Caroline Daniels & both having been from Georgia. William Elisha Garrett built the first cabin in Big Spring, Arkansas, Benton County. He later named it Springtown, Arkansas. In the Union County Georgia Census, in either 1850 or 1860 census he is listed as Elisha Garrett. I find no record of him ever being married to Caroline Daniels in Arkansas, but believe that he was married to a Asley C. Daniels [Caroline] in Union County, Georgia & that she probably died in child birth with my great granddad or from complications shortly after, because William "Elisha" Garrett marries Mary Ellen Culberson April 06, 1871 in Benton County, Arkansas. this was only a few months after Benjamin's birth & at the time William "Elisha" would have been about 39 years old. I need documentation to support this theory, or shoot it down. Any & all information & or suggestions would very much appreciated. Thank You Gayle M. Garrett <[email protected]>

I think whoever gave the info., had an accent (obviously, this is the South) and the census taker took Mr. and Mrs. as names and wrote it down. Do you have any connection (that you know about) to an Elizabeth b abt 1827 NC ? She was listed as THOMPSON living with James LONG and Uly CANSLER (who came from Burke Co. NC to Union). 1. [GAUNION] Re: Address changes to posts on all GenConnect Boards
    2. Carol Ann Tindell
    3. Hi Everyone, This is just a reminder that if you change your email address [or even your name] for any reason, you can have your old posts to ANY of GenConnect's Query & 6 data boards edited to show your new address. All you have to do is : 1. email the person shown at the bottom of each board as the 'maintenance' person, 2. provide them with both old and new addys, Carol Pierson, I have fixed your post to reflect your new addy on your TOWE query on the Union Co., GA Query Board and deleted your "address Change" post as it no longer applies. Please re-visit our query board to make sure your new addy is correct. If not, let me know. Here's our Union Co., GA FAQ about email address changes..... FAQ# 13: I've had to change my ISP [Internet Service Provider], so I now have a new email addy. What do I do now to let everyone know where to find me? You will need to change both your queries and your subscriptions to each email list that you were on. Don't forget about your email notices about every post to query and data boards at GenConnect and any post-em notes you made to the World Connect project or within the SSDI at RootsWeb or entries you made on the ROOTS-L system. If you donated any data to the USGenWeb Archives or to a county's website site, they will also have your old email addy. Queries: This will take you some time to complete on your own...because it's helpful for you to find each one before you contact the person who will update it for you. When you find one, note the page's URL or GenConnect's message #. Email the person identified on that page as the maintenance contact or webmaster. Give the county name, both your old and your new addy and a copy of your query and/or the #. Be as specific as possible in order to help them to help you!! For queries at GenForum, there's no way to change your email addy with them. You will need to post your new email addy in a 'reply' to all your original posts. If you can remember where you posted one query, you can access all the ones you ever posted to the GenForum system by clicking on your name's link. Email Lists: For the ones at Rootsweb, if you still have access to your old email account, send the standand 'unsubscribe' email messages to each list. Can't remember all the lists you were on? Go here http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and RootsWeb will be able to provide a listing to you. If you no longer have access to your old email account, that's okay. Your mail to your old account will bounce and the owner of the list will be notified automatically. After about 3+ bounces, your old addy should fall out of the system. There may be lingering addys that look similar to your old one generated by programming within the email delivery system...but the list owner will be able to get rid of those manually for you. To re-subscribe to any list, log on from your new email account and start sending the same 'subscribe' messages as you originally did before switching ISPs. If you still aren't receiving email at your new address, contact the owner of the email list so that they can subscribe you manually. Sometimes list owners need to do this for you when you have similar email addresses before the @ sign. Reminder: Sending a one-time mailing to all your email lists telling folks that your address has changed isn't the best way to get the word out. Your message will automatically go into the email list archives [and taking up space]...but folks are searching lists on surnames [not you]..so your message will be over-looked. Not everyone is going to hasten to the task and see if they have something about you on 100's of their webpages as that is just too time-consuming. Be considerate and send private emails to webmasters citing the exact pages where your name appears and ask them politely to change your address. See: RootsWeb's FAQs about email changes. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/FAQ/address.html#b2 -----Original Message----- From: Carol Pierson <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Tuesday, November 28, 2000 11:21 PM Subject: {not a subscriber} Address change >Posted on: Union Co. 2. Gayle M. Garrett
    3. I NEED HELP! I believe my great great grandfather was William Elisha Garrett B: April 14, 1840 in N.C. Raised in Union CO. Georgia. Was in Union CO. GA. 1850 Census & Fannin County 1860 Census. Served in the Civil War. Moved to Benton Co., Arkansas, Started Springtown, Arkansas, Benton County. His parents James Garrett & Susannah Mashburn. Reason for my believing this is that my great grandfather Benjamin F. Garrett's death certificate listed his parents as Elisha Garrett & Caroline Daniels & that they were both from Georgia. Benjamin was born in Springtown, Arkansas, Benton County on October 19, 1870. I haven't located where, or that William Elisha married Caroline Daniels as of yet William Elisha married Mary Ellen Culberson on April 06, 1871. This would have been several months after Benjamin was born & William would have been about 39 years old at the time. What I believe is that William Elisha married Caroline Daniels (Possibly Asley C. Daniels) first & that possibly she died while giving birth to my great grandfather or from complications shortly after. Any information & or Suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank You Gayle M. Garrett

    3. Posted on: Union Co. GA Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Union/715 Surname: McCLURE, HOOPER, NELSON ------------------------- Elisha Hedden NELSON was a Baptist minister also and Justice of the Peace, who married many couples in the Cherokee NC area. He signed papers for another of my gggrandfather Elisha Francis Burgess that was also in the War. There was a W.K. Hedden, ordinary, Towns co.Ga. that signed "copy" of Marriage License papers for Elisha & Eliza Nelson Nov.3,1923. I am in the process now sorting out the many William McClures so that I can hopefully get Pension papers on this ggggrandfather. He would have been 40 in 1861, so I am pretty sure he would have had to participate in the "War of the Rebellion" in some way. William and Ellender's children were very young when they were in Union co. Ga., so if there are any surviving marriage license, it would probably be in that area. I live close to Washington D.C. and the Library of Congress so if anyone has names of books these families may be in , I could look it up there. I will check out the Kilpatricks at the DAR. Thanks, Sarah
