16 April 2001 Surname: Putnal Evidently a lot of folks passed through Twiggs County in route to Florida in the 1800's. Stephen Putnal, born 1821 in Sumter County, SC, died Jan. 18, 1896 in Hamilton County, FL, married Nancy Hart, born Oct. 7, 1818 in Twiggs County, GA, died Dec. 31, 1902 in Hamilton County, FL. Stephen and Nancy were married 1848 in Twiggs County, GA. Four of their 6 children were born in Twiggs County. My great grandfather, Hayden Putnal was born Sept. 20, 1849 in Twiggs County, GA and died 1913 in Lafayette County, FL. Are there any records in Twiggs County that go as far back as 1849?
