    1. [GATWIGGS] Marriages in Twiggs Co
    2. Paul Thames
    3. Hi Tanya, my name is paul thames and although my ancestors, (Amos Thames who m Elizabeth Plummer in Cumberland co NC in Jan 1807) lived in Twiggs Co for a time, I know of no marriages of any relatives that took place there. Amos Tims/Thames was listed in the 1820 census in Jones Co, He was in Twiggs Co when he drew land through the lottery for land in Early Co in the 1820 lottery. I believe this family lived in Twiggs Co for several years however. Other family members who also lived there are William, Samuel, Thomas Thames. Several children of Amos and Elizabeth were born in Twiggs Co, I believe, no proof however. They were quite religious and attended church regularly there I believe at the Stone Creek Baptist church. And probably had an account at the Peck Store. I have been unable to get much info though to document their stay in Twiggs Co. I visited once in the County Court House and very little data is available. I subscribe to the Twiggs List in hopes of some day getting some info on my family ancestors. I believe my ancestors left NC in about 1810-12 and arrived in Ga about that time. Amos was in the revolutionary War and died in Clay Co Ga in 1855. Would appreciate any and all help. I also appreciate all that you do and the efforts you make to help gain new info on the early settlers of Twiggs and counties of that vicinity. Paul Thames
