I'm not sure how many people are on this Twiggs List--- (Tonya, maybe you can write and tell us!) BUT I just wanted to remind all of you how lucky you've been to have such wonderful County Coordinators for Twiggs County all these years. Bernie and Betty Johnson started it all off....and now Tonya Crosby has been doing it for quite some time. Have you looked at Tonya's page and all she has on it? http://www.rootsweb.com/~gatwiggs/index.htm Tonya and I work closely together (I'm the Twiggs County Archives page manager) http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/twiggs.htm We would just love to put more things on-line for the County---and you people on this list are the ones we need to help us out!! BIBLE Records (Now, I can't believe that we only have ONE Bible Record for this whole county) Remember this could be even from an old letter which listed family members....it doesn't have to be actually from a Bible that you have in your possession. LAND/DEED TWO of them!! Now I know this is a burned county....but my understanding is that most of the deeds were "recovered" .... especially when the land was sold the next time. WILLs Only ONE!! Can't believe that one either.... On most lists that I'm on, there are so many listeners....but nobody does any sharing!! I just know that someone has a question. Maybe you don't know HOW to locate a deed or a will? This is the place to ask it. Land Lottery--- Tonya just posted a listing of Twiggs County residents who drew in the 1820 and 1827. Take a look if you haven't. Those list tell you WHERE the person was living in Twigg's County (well the Capt's name of the district---which I think we can figure out for today as well). It tells you WHERE they drew the land.... and remember many of these didn't actually move to the new land ---they sold it! But you can often find out things about the family (widow....orphans) The land couldn't be sold until the orphan came of age...so that would be another clue. That's what this list is for....share some of your ideas abour researching in Twiggs...and then ask something you want to know. Now, we're not going to have an easy answer---no full descendancy charts with the click of a button---but working together we just might all learn something!! Virginia Crilley
