    3. Tonya, I applaud you for your dedication! But, I fear that I cannot add much. My distant cousin, Tom Cloud, told you about our ancestor Jeremiah Cloud, who married Elizabeth in 1800. He said he was born in Twiggs County, GA. He was 77 years old and fairly prosperous when he died in TX in 1861. Our best guess is that they married in the Twiggs County area but that was before the county was formed. The fact that Twiggs County did not exist when Jeremiah was born has caused some to suggest that he was not actually born in the county. What is important to me is that Twiggs County did exist when he left the area for AL in about 1825. If his mother told him accurately about his place of birth and that place was a part of Twiggs County in 1825 I feel sure he would have said quite honestly that he was born in Twiggs County. That's the way we speak today, and I have no reason to think customs on this have changed. Jeremiah's place of birth may have later become a part of Bibb County, but he may never have known about that. I spent a little time in the area last summer trying to gather clues as to what was going on there in 1784. I came away with the suspicion that Jeremiah's mother was either a refugee from the war or a Creek Indian. Any ideas? 3. Dear Cecil; I checked the 1805 Wilkinson County Districts that become Twiggs County in 1809 and there are no Cloud families in the area. I work a 24 hour shift tomorrow, but will go to the library on Wednesday to try and get more marriage records out of Newspaper articles and will look for your Jeremiah Cloud in anything there. If the part of Twiggs where he was from became Bibb County later, then there could be some records there. Do you know if he owned any land? I will keep my eyes open for you and thank you for the email.
