Stone Creek Church (est. 1808) was a very prominent church in Twiggs County and is still existent today. This congregation held a major role in the beginning of the 1st Baptist Church in Macon, GA. Jennifer, Cecil and I are descendants of Jeremiah Cloud, whose obituary says he was born in Twiggs cty GA in 1784. But, as you know, Twiggs wasn't formed at that time. I have speculated that our Jeremiah may have been the son of a trader in that Indian territory and may have been orphaned at an early age, possibly being taken to South Carolina for a time. His obit says he married at 16, but we don't know where. We cannot find our Jeremiah CLOUD's family and are hoping church records will help. He and his family came to Texas about 1837 and, for those we know about, were Baptists. We don't know whether any of his relatives stayed in Georgia or, for that matter, ever lived there (perhaps only his father came there ???). We are looking for any clues ... **ANYTHING** .... some of us have been hunting for several decades for his family. We hope church records of early Georgia will help us make a breakthrough.
